In his first official visit to Region XII as Executive Director, Dr. Fernando N. Lontoc attended the NMIS-Regional Technical Operations Center (RTOC) XII Monthly Meeting, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to responsive, strengthened, and people-centered public service.

His itinerary includes courtesy visits to the Mayors of Koronadal City and Tupi, as well as the Governor of South Cotabato, to strengthen partnerships and collaboration with local government leaders.

He is also set to visit Antipas, Kabacan, and Matalam in Cotabato, and Malapatan in Sarangani to personally assess the progress of beneficiaries under the Meat Establishment Improvement Program (MEIP) and provide technical assistance to LGUs, including those with independently funded slaughterhouse projects. These visits aim to support LGUs in upgrading and establishing slaughterhouses that comply with national standards, ultimately strengthening meat safety and protecting public health.

During the meeting, Director Lontoc emphasized the importance of renewed commitment, encouraging RTOC XII employees to remain motivated, united, and dedicated to their mandate. He recognized the value of their contributions and challenged everyone to go above and beyond in fulfilling their duties and responsibilities in service of the public.

𝗗𝗥. 𝗙𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗢 𝗡. 𝗟𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗢𝗖 𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗨𝗠𝗘𝗦 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣 𝗔𝗦 𝗡𝗠𝗜𝗦 𝗘𝗫𝗘𝗖𝗨𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗘 𝗗𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗢𝗥

Dr. Fernando N. Lontoc officially took his oath of office as Executive Director III of the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) before Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr. on November 3, 2026, at the Office of the Secretary, DA Compound, Quezon City.

Dr. Lontoc was designated as Officer-in-Charge, Executive Director of NMIS in March 2026. Prior to his designation, he served as Regional Technical Director in various Regional Technical Operation Centers (RTOCs), gaining valuable experience in regional operations and the implementation of the agency's programs and services.

His assumption as Executive Director marks a new chapter in his leadership as he continues to lead the agency in fulfilling its mandate of ensuring safe and wholesome meat and meat products for the Filipino people.

We wrapped up Meat Safety Consciousness Week with a whole lot of fun, gratitude, and celebration!

October was one for the books as NMIS marked two remarkable milestones: its 54th Founding Anniversary and the 33rd Meat Safety Consciousness Week!

It was a jam-packed month filled with meaningful activities and purposeful initiatives—from the simultaneous hanging of tarpaulins and Linis-Bahay Katayan to media guestings, a motorcade, stakeholder meetings, and a series of meat safety advocacy seminars. Every activity brought us one step closer to our shared goal of promoting safe, clean, and wholesome meat for every Filipino.

But after weeks of hard work and dedication, it was time to take a well-deserved breather and celebrate the people behind it all! We capped off the month with a fun-filled Employees’ Day, recognizing the commitment, teamwork, and countless efforts of everyone who helped make this year’s celebration a success. Because behind every successful activity is a team that goes above and beyond!

On October 29–30, 2026, the National Meat Inspection Service Regional Technical Operation Center XII (NMIS RTOC XII) participated in the Regional Livestock Forum and Culmination of the 2026 Livestock and Poultry Month held at Paraiso Verde Resort, Koronadal City, South Cotabato. Representing NMIS SOCCSKSARGEN were OIC, Regional Technical Director Dr. Grace L. Rosete and Dr. Precious Emerald L. Licatan.

Dr. Licatan also served as a resource speaker, sharing insights on NMIS flagship programs and promoting the agency’s meat safety advocacy, particularly the importance of ensuring safe and wholesome meat for public health.

The forum gathered agricultural stakeholders, local government partners, and industry leaders to discuss sector accomplishments, development strategies, and opportunities for collaboration. Through its participation, NMIS RTOC XII continued to support regional efforts in strengthening meat safety, promoting compliance with meat inspection standards, and advancing the livestock and poultry industry in SOCCSKSARGEN.

The National Meat Inspection Service - Regional Technical Operation Center XII (NMIS RTOC XII) informs the public, meat industry stakeholders, and all concerned clients that the NMIS RTOC XII Office and Satellite Meat Laboratory will observe 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐞𝐬’ 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 29-30, 2026.

In view of this observance, regular office transactions and laboratory services may be temporarily affected during the said dates. Clients and stakeholders are advised to plan and schedule their transactions accordingly to avoid inconvenience, particularly those involving documentary requirements, meat inspection-related services, and laboratory submissions.
