Aimed at augmenting border control procedures and enhancing technical capacity, the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS), through the Meat Import and Export Division (MIED), successfully conducted the Second Border Inspection Training for NMIS Meat Inspection Officers (MIOs) assigned to Cold Storage Warehouses (CSW) from May 19 to 21, 2026 at La Breza Hotel, Quezon City.
The three-day engagement featured theoretical discussions, case studies, and field immersion activities that equipped twenty-one (21) participants with extensive knowledge on border inspection procedures, laboratory sample collection, management of adverse food safety and quality findings, and the disposition of administrative cases involving meat commodities.
The activity reinforced the Agencyโs commitment to strengthening the technical competence and confidence of MIOs in conducting second border inspections in the CSWs. Moreover, it highlighted the paramount priority of achieving the appropriate level of protection (ALOP) of the country while ensuring fair practices in food trade.

The National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS), through its Engineering Unit, successfully conducted the Competency Strengthening Seminar for Engineering Infrastructure Focal Persons from May 19 to 22, 2026, at the NMIS MITDC Bldg., Visayas Avenue, Quezon City.
The four-day seminar aimed to enhance the knowledge, technical competencies, and professional capabilities of Engineering Infrastructure Focal Persons, enabling them to effectively contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering and infrastructure services throughout the agency.
As part of the activity, participants engaged in a series of technical discussions and learning sessions focused on engineering standards, infrastructure development, and best practices relevant to NMIS operations. The activity also served as a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration among Engineering Infrastructure Focal Persons from various Regional Technical Operations Centers (RTOCs). To complement the learning sessions, participants conducted field visits to several meat establishments in Luzon area, providing valuable hands-on experience and practical insights into engineering infrastructure standards, facility operations, and regulatory requirements in meat establishments.
Through this initiative, NMIS reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the technical capabilities of its personnel and promoting excellence in engineering and infrastructure services in support of the agency's mandate of ensuring safe and quality meat for Filipino consumers.

The activity focused on proper meat handling, food safety practices among meat vendors and handlers in the locality, and compliance with national standards for the ongoing construction of the Double A Slaughterhouse. The initiative aims to strengthen meat inspection services and provide safe, clean, and quality meat products for the constituents of Magpet.
NMIS RTOC XII also paid a ๐ฐ๐ผ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฒ๐๐ ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ ๐๐ผ ๐ ๐ฎ๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐ฆ. ๐๐ผ๐ป๐๐ฎ๐ด๐ฎ, reaffirming the strong partnership between NMIS and the local government in promoting public health and food safety.
