Records are vital possessions in our respective organization. Just like any other possession we have, it is important that we know how to treat our records. Through this 3-day training, we were able to learn the importance of establishing our Records Data Center and the operations that should be practiced as the ultimate in charge of these records. Transfer and accession of records is the first stage in Records Center Administration, where we identify our non-current records and whether they are qualified or not for transfer to the Records Center.
Once we have established our Records Storage, it is our responsibility to manage it according to the requirements needed. This requirement is more on the physical aspect of managing our records.
For the Reference Service, it is primary to specify all the details that we need to identify in order to have easy access to all the records that we are managing. The last topic in our training, which is the non-current appraisal/reappraisal, is for us to determine the significant value of these records, whether we have to transfer them to Archives, retain them for continuing administrative use, or dispose of them if they have reached their retention period or have no value at all.
Information is every organization's most basic and essential asset. Effectively managing the records that contain important information can help governments enhance operational processes, protect sensitive data, identify historically important documents, and provide citizens with an enhanced level of service.
