PNP PUTS FULL SECURITY MEASURES IN PLACE FOR SY 2026ā2027 SCHOOL OPENING
As millions of learners prepare to return to schools nationwide, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has placed a robust security and assistance framework in motion, deploying a total of 55,507 personnel nationwide under Oplan Balik-Eskwela for School Year 2026ā2027.
The deployment underscores the governmentās priority of keeping school communities safe and accessible as classes formally open on June 8, 2026 until April 8, 2027. Of the total force, 28,751 are from the PNP, supported by 4,079 personnel from other units and 22,677 force multipliers from partner agencies and community groups, highlighting a strengthened whole-of-nation approach to school safety.
Security visibility will be reinforced through 9,319 Police Assistance Desks strategically placed in campuses and clustered schools, 9,525 mobile patrol units, and nearly 10,000 force multipliers actively assisting in security and crowd management in school zones nationwide.
PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., emphasized that the deployment is not merely about numbers, but about ensuring confidence among students and parents as the new school year begins.
He also noted that the initiative supports the PNP Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, where visibility, coordination, and quick response are prioritized, in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.ās direction to strengthen public safety for continuous and stable learning.
To address both on-ground and online concerns, the Anti-Cybercrime Group will maintain cyber monitoring against cyberbullying, misinformation, and fake news affecting students and parents. The EOD and K9 units are likewise on alert for possible threats in school areas, while the Highway Patrol Group will deploy road safety marshals to help ensure smooth traffic flow and protect students and commuters.
Local police units have been instructed to closely coordinate with schools, LGUs, and stakeholders to keep school environments orderly, including strict enforcement and coordination on zoning regulations around school vicinities.
As the country welcomes another school year, the PNP reaffirmed its commitment to being present where it matters mostāon the ground, in communities, and beside learners and familiesāadvancing a Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman, where public safety is delivered with consistency, care, and purpose.

COMMUNITY TRUST FUELS RECOVERY OF 140 LOOSE FI****MS IN ILOILO CITY
A total of 140 assorted fi****ms were voluntarily surrendered to authorities in Iloilo City, highlighting growing community cooperation in government efforts to reduce the presence of loose fi****ms and strengthen public safety.
The accomplishment forms part of the Philippine National Policeās sustained drive under its Focused Agenda, particularly its Enhanced Managing Police Operations pillar, where emphasis is placed on proactive engagement, trust-building, and closer coordination with communities to address peace and order concerns in a more preventive and collaborative manner.
The Iloilo City Police Office, together with its operational units, credited the steady turnout of firearm surrenders to continued information drives and engagement activities conducted from October 2025 to May 2026. The surrendered fi****ms were formally turned over to the Regional Civil Security Unit 6 during a ceremony at Camp Achilles D. Plagata in Iloilo City.
Alongside the fi****ms recovery, the same initiative provided wider public service access, including licensing and renewal assistance for firearm owners, police clearance processing, neuro-psychiatric evaluation, and drug testing servicesāunderscoring a more integrated approach to police outreach and regulation.
PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., underscored that the success of such initiatives rests on public trust and cooperation.
āKapag ang komunidad ay nakikiisa, mas nagiging epektibo ang ating trabaho. This is not just enforcementāit is partnership. Ang layunin natin ay hindi lang masamsam ang ilegal na armas, kundi mapalakas ang tiwala ng bawat Pilipino sa kanilang pulis,ā he said.
He also emphasized that these continuing gains support the broader direction of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in strengthening peace and order initiatives that are community-centered and service-driven.
The PNP said it will continue expanding similar efforts nationwide as part of its commitment to sustained public safety reforms and responsive policing, reinforcing its call for shared responsibility in maintaining peace.
This accomplishment reflects the continuing transformation of the organization under the principle of a Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman, where policing is not only visible but actively felt through service, cooperation, and trust.
