As a specialized unit of the Department of Auditor-General of Pakistan, the Performance Audit Wing (PAW) is responsible for capacity building in performance auditing. Its training programs are meant to foster an environment where public sector auditors can exchange ideas and share experiences. PAW’s prestigious three-weeks International Intensive Training Program in Performance Auditing (ITP-115) concluded on February 13, 2026, at Lahore; with a formal Valedictory Ceremony, graced by the Auditor-General of Pakistan, Mr Maqbool Ahmad Gondal. The event marked a significant milestone in the continuous efforts of the Department of the Auditor-General of Pakistan to enhance governance, transparency, and accountability through performance auditing. The ITP-115, attended by 20 participants, had representation of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of Oman, the Gambia, Nepal, Pakistan; and of the federal and provincial ministries and departments. The Chief Guest, Mr Maqbool Ahmad Gondal, while commending the participants for successfully completing the rigorous and intensive training, emphasized the crucial role of performance auditing in ensuring efficient and effective public service delivery. He reaffirmed the commitment of DAGP to strengthen legislative oversight by harnessing the potential of performance Auditing. He expressed satisfaction with the high level of trust placed in the DAGP’s intensive training by participating international institutions. This confidence, he noted, underscores the vital role of global collaboration in fostering a culture of knowledge-sharing and collective capacity building across the audit community in the critical discipline of performance auditing. He impressed upon the participants by saying that, "Let this not be the conclusion of a training program, but the beginning of a new chapter in your professional journey. I encourage you to apply these newly acquired techniques promptly to deliver substantively useful audit products."
Director General, Performance Audit Wing, Mr Aamir Fayyaz, in his welcome address, noted that training program was carefully curated to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the 5Es of performance auditing across various stages of the audit cycle. Greater emphasis was placed on practical, hands-on learning and presentation skills. Participants prepared and presented Preliminary Survey Reports and critically reviewed and presented selected performance audit reports, which were evaluated by audit and management experts. In addition to classroom sessions, participants visited field organizations, where they gained first hand insight into the nuances of project planning, monitoring and evaluation mechanisms. Cultural visits to prominent landmarks of Lahore were also arranged, providing participants an opportunity to experience the rich heritage and vibrant character of the city.
The Valedictory Ceremony served as a powerful reaffirmation of the DAGP’s commitment to excellence in performance auditing. In an era where there are ever increasing expectations from public sector organizations to be efficient, equitable and effective; the ITP underscored that continuous capacity building in the discipline of performance auditing is no longer optional- it is essential.
At the end of the ceremony, Certificates were awarded to the Participants on successful completion of the course.

آڈیٹر جنرل آف پاکستان، مقبول احمد گوندل نے پشاور کا سرکاری دورہ کیا، جہاں انہوں نے خیبر پختونخوا میں اکاؤنٹس اور آڈٹ دفاتر کی کارکردگی، انتظامی امور اور جاری اصلاحاتی اقدامات کا تفصیلی جائزہ لیا۔آڈیٹر جنرل آف پاکستان کی آمد پر اکاؤنٹنٹ جنرل خیبر پختونخوا خالد محمود، ڈپٹی آڈیٹر جنرل (نارتھ) شاہ رحمان اور پاکستان آڈٹ اینڈ اکاؤنٹس سروس کے دیگر افسران نے ان کا استقبال کیا۔ اس موقع پر آڈیٹر جنرل کو صوبے میں عوامی مالیاتی نظام کو جدید خطوط پر استوار کرنے اور گورننس کو بہتر بنانے کے لیے جاری اور مجوزہ اصلاحاتی اقدامات پر بریفنگ دی گئی۔

آڈیٹر جنرل آف پاکستان نے اصلاحات کی اہمیت پر زور دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ کیش لیس نظام کی طرف منتقلی، ای آفس کا نفاذ، دفتری امور کی مکمل ڈیجیٹلائزیشن، شفافیت کا فروغ اور سخت احتسابی نظام اصلاحاتی عمل کے بنیادی ستون ہیں، جن پر مؤثر عملدرآمد ناگزیر ہے۔انہوں نے کہا کہ نتائج پر مبنی کارکردگی کو ترجیح دی جائے گی اور صوبہ بھر میں سروس ڈیلیوری کے معیار کی وہ ذاتی طور پر نگرانی کریں گے۔ آڈیٹر جنرل نے واضح کیا کہ کوتاہی یا غفلت کی صورت میں ذمہ داری کا تعین یقینی بنایا جائے گا، جبکہ اصلاحات کے نفاذ میں بہتر کارکردگی، جدت اور عملی اقدامات کرنے والے افسران اور دفاتر کی حوصلہ افزائی کی جائے گی۔آڈیٹر جنرل آف پاکستان نے حکومت خیبر پختونخوا اور دیگر متعلقہ اداروں کے ساتھ مؤثر رابطہ کاری کی ضرورت پر بھی زور دیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ باہمی روابط کو مستحکم کرنا، ادارہ جاتی تعاون کو مضبوط بنانا اور اشتراکِ عمل کو فروغ دینا وقت کی اہم ضرورت ہے، تاکہ ایک مؤثر، جوابدہ اور جدید عوامی مالیاتی نظام تشکیل دیا جا سکے۔

دورے کے اختتام پر آڈیٹر جنرل آف پاکستان نے صوبے میں اکاؤنٹس اور آڈٹ دفاتر کی کارکردگی کو سراہا اور افسران پر زور دیا کہ وہ اصلاحاتی عمل کی رفتار برقرار رکھیں، پیشہ ورانہ دیانت داری اور شفافیت کے اعلیٰ معیار پر قائم رہیں اور ڈیجیٹل گورننس اور مالی نظم و ضبط سے متعلق قومی ترجیحات کے مطابق اپنے امور انجام دیں۔

Auditor-General of Pakistan Maqbool Ahmad Gondal, took the oath of office as the Auditor-General of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Chief Justice of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan, administered the oath. The oath-taking ceremony was held on Thursday at the Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The ceremony started with the recitation of Holy Quran. It was attended by Secretary Finance Islam Zaib, Secretary Forests Ansar Yaqub, Secretary Sports Tehzeeb-un-Nisa, Secretary Local Government Chaudhry Imtiaz, Secretary Industries Chaudhry Abdul Rahman, Secretary Environment, Wildlife & Fisheries Aamir Mahmood Mirza, Secretary Elementary & Secondary Education Qazi Inayat, Accountant General Hassan Masood, Director General to AGP Hashim Raza, Director General Audit Saeedullah Niazi, Additional Accountant General Mir Asghar, as well as officers and staff of the Accountant General and Audit Offices.

The ceremony was conducted by Supreme Court Registrar Mazhar Iqbal, while Draftsman of the Department of Law, Justice, Parliamentary Affairs & Human Rights, Zahid Rajput, read out the notification of the appointment of the Auditor- General. After this, Chief Justice Azad Jammu and Kashmir Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan administered the oath to Maqbool Ahmed Gondal as Auditor-General of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Mr. Maqbool Ahmad Gondal took the oath of office as the Auditor-General of Gilgit-Baltistan in a ceremony held at the Supreme Appellate Court in Gilgit on November 25, 2025. The oath was administered by Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan of the Supreme Appellate Court.
The ceremony was attended by several notable figures, including Chief Election Commissioner Raja Shahbaz Khan, Chief Secretary of Gilgit-Baltistan Mr. Ibrar Ahmed Mirza, IG Police Mr. Afzal Mehmood Butt, and Joint Secretary of the Gilgit-Baltistan Council Mr. Sudeer Ahmed Khattak.
Later, Mr. Muhammad Luqman, the Accountant General, Gilgit-Baltistan, Welcomed the Auditor-General at AG Office.
The Auditor-General formally inaugurated the newly installed advanced solarization system at the Gilgit-Baltistan office. He congratulated the staff on the successful implementation of the MPG and online billing solutions and praised significant advancements in IT infrastructure and the E-office system. Mr. Hashim Raza, DG to the Auditor General of Pakistan, accompanied the AGP during his visit to Gilgit-Baltistan.
The Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP), Mr. Maqbool Ahmad Gondal, also met with Syed Mehdi Shah, the Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan, as well as the Commandant, FCNA. The meetings likely focused on enhancing collaboration between the Auditor General’s office and key regional institutions, particularly in areas related to governance and overall development in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Auditor-General of Pakistan (AGP) Maqbool Ahmad Gondal represented Pakistan at the 25th ICOSAI meetings of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI)
held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, from October 27-31, 2025.

Director General Hashim Raza accompanied the Auditor General during the official visit.

The meetings preceded the 25th International Congress of Supreme Audit Institutions (INCOSAI-25), formally inaugurated on Wednesday under the auspices of the President of Egypt. The event was hosted by the Accountability State Authority (ASA) of Egypt.

During the sessions, AGP Maqbool Ahmed Gondal took part in deliberations on key governance and audit-related agenda items, presenting Pakistan’s perspective on strengthening transparency, accountability and professional excellence in public sector auditing.

During the visit, the Auditor General signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Turkiye besides signing the Action Plan,2026 with Belarus.

He also held bilateral meetings with the heads of Supreme Audit Institutions and Government Accountability Offices of the United States, United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Japan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Iran.

ISLAMABAD, October 15, 2025: Auditor General of Pakistan, Mr. Maqbool Ahmad Gondal, called on President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr today.
President Underscores Importance of Transparency and Accountability in Public Financial Management.
The President appreciated the vital role played by the Department of the Auditor-General of Pakistan in ensuring financial accountability, transparency, and good governance in the management and utilization of public resources.
The President said that the constitutional office of the Auditor General is central to ensuring fiscal discipline and strengthening the country’s public financial management system. He said the AGP’s work helps identify systemic weaknesses, enhance efficiency, and promote the responsible use of national resources.
The President encouraged the AGP to continue reform efforts within the department, in close coordination with relevant stakeholders, to further improve efficiency and service delivery.

He emphasized that effective follow-up on audit findings and prompt corrective measures could play a significant role in reducing corruption and financial irregularities. He emphasized the adoption of international best practices and innovations, including the use of artificial intelligence and IT-based audit tools, to strengthen internal controls and improve transparency.
President Zardari underlined that the demand for greater financial transparency, efficient governance, and professional integrity is stronger today than ever before. He expressed confidence that the AGP’s office will continue to uphold the highest standards of accountability in the national interest.
