Here is an interesting way to measure a city’s trees: look at them from a pedestrian’s perspective. 🌳

Treepedia’s Green View Index estimates how much tree canopy people can see while traveling along city streets. Tampa led the cities studied, with trees visible across 36.1% of its street-level imagery.

Aberdeen was not included, but the idea is worth considering. Street trees provide shade, help manage stormwater and can make an ordinary walk feel entirely different.

Discover which global cities have the most street-level tree cover, and how urban planning helps keep their streets green.

Community involvement does more than improve the place where we live. It can also strengthen our own sense of connection and purpose. 🤝

Gallup found that Americans who feel strongly connected to their community are nearly three times as likely to believe their actions can make a difference locally.

Sometimes the first step is simply showing up.

Those who are more involved in their community are more likely to feel they are capable of shaping the future of their community and the country.

Apparently, South Dakota ranked 44th in a 2025 analysis of America’s “Halloween spirit.” 🎃

The ranking used Google searches for costumes, decorations and other Halloween-related terms.

I’m not convinced search traffic captures decorated porches, school parties, community events or excited trick-or-treaters particularly well.

Sometimes community spirit is easier to see on the sidewalk than in a search bar.

Hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween week! 👻🍬

Across the U.S., UK and Germany, people may differ on plenty...but family and health consistently rise to the top. ❤️

A recent comparison found family life ranked as a leading priority in all three countries, with health close behind.

A simple reminder that we often share more common ground than it seems. 🌍

Family life ranks as the top priority in all three countries.

Here’s an encouraging global trend: more than four in five adults worldwide say they are satisfied with their freedom to choose what they do with their lives. 🌍

Gallup found that satisfaction increased by double digits in 54 countries over the past two decades.

Progress doesn’t always make headlines, but it’s worth noticing. 🌱

Worldwide, more people today are satisfied with their freedom to choose what they do with their lives than were satisfied two decades ago.

Here’s some encouraging long-term perspective: people are living longer across every major income group. 🌍

Since 1960, the life-expectancy gap between high- and low-income countries has narrowed from roughly 27 years to 16! That's a big deal!

There’s more progress to make, but the direction over time is worth recognizing. 📈

The gap between high- and low-income countries has narrowed from 27 to 16 years since 1960, but people in rich countries still live longer on average.
