🎉 Great news! We’re one step closer to opening the new Mississippi River Bridge at Lansing! 🌉
The pavement markings are being installed today, and the newly reconstructed Iowa 9/Iowa 26 is expected to open to traffic later this afternoon! 🚗✅
As part of this traffic switch:
🔄 Front Street north of the marina will return to two-way traffic.
🛣️ Side streets that have been closed during construction will reopen.
🚧 Front Street beneath the bridge will close temporarily while crews remove the bridge decking.
And don't forget, the new Mississippi River Bridge at Lansing remains on track to open in the afternoon on November 6! 🎊🌉
Thank you for your patience throughout this historic project.
We're excited to see traffic using the new roadway and look forward to opening the bridge very soon! 🙌

🎉 We now have a date! 🎉
The new Mississippi River Bridge at Lansing will fully open to traffic on the afternoon of November 6th! 🚗🌉
We are also working with the community on plans for a small celebration to mark this exciting moment. More details will be shared as they are finalized. 🎈🤝
⛴️ Car Ferry Update:
The car ferry will run all day on November 6th, and service will end after that day.

📸 Lots of activity at the new Mississippi River Bridge in Lansing! 🌉🚧
As we move toward the planned early November opening, here’s a look at what crews are working on:
🔹 Photo 1: 👷‍♂️👷‍♀️ Two workers — one top center and one down a little to the left — are painting the top of the bridge, while a ready mix truck unloads concrete in the background for paving Iowa 9/26.
🔹 Photo 2: 🚜 More paving progress on Iowa 9/26, which we hope to have open by mid-October.
🔹 Photo 3: 🛣️ The new bridge approach on the Wisconsin side is taking shape.
🔹 Photo 4: 🌅 An eastward view showing what you’ll see when driving from Lansing into Wisconsin on the new bridge.
✅ Still a lot to check off the list before the bridge opens, but it’s getting closer!! 🎉

🚨 The wait for the new bridge opening — like the commute across the river — is about to get shorter! 🌉✨
Thanks to the long hours and 7 day work weeks put in by Kraemer North America, their subcontractors, and our consulting partners, along with favorable weather and steady river levels, we’re thrilled to announce that the new Mississippi River Bridge in Lansing will now open in early November 2026, moving up from the original spring 2027 timeline! 🎉💪🔥

Iowa and Wisconsin Announce Early November Opening for Iowa 9 / WIS 82 Mississippi River Crossing at Lansing

🚧 Big milestone in Lansing! 🎉
Monday was the final bridge deck pour for the center section!
🌅 Ready mix trucks started unloading onto conveyor belts from both sides of the river at 6:00 am. Crews worked from the center of the bridge back toward their respective shorelines to place the concrete.
🚚 922 cubic yards of concrete were delivered on 95 trucks — finishing around 3:45 pm.
We’ve heard lots of questions about when the new bridge will open. Kraemer’s current schedule shows spring 2027. Progress is looking great, and we’ll share any updates if the schedule changes.

🚧 Heads up, Lansing!
We’ll be doing the final deck pour on Monday, August 24! 🎉
⏰ Expect delays in the Iowa 9/Iowa 26 work zone near the bridge from about 6:00 am to 2:00 pm due to ready-mix truck traffic.
🚦 The traffic signals currently in place will continue to guide vehicles through the work zone.
🚩 Additional flaggers will be on site to briefly stop traffic when needed so trucks can safely enter and exit the area.
