In 2024, Missouri voters repealed their state’s abortion ban at the ballot box. This election, they are being asked to vote on the abortion ban again, but this time, disinformation and fear about trans youth healthcare is being weaponized in an attempt to shift the vote and ban abortion in Missouri. Gender-affirming care for youth is already banned in the state, but the ballot initiative would enshrine the ban in the state constitution. Across Missouri, canvasses are knocking doors and encouraging people to vote no on Amendment 3. You can join the effort to fight anti-trans ballot initiatives in Missouri and four other states, no matter where you live in the U.S. Sign up for a virtual phone banking or textbanking shift at the link in the comments.

Doctors in the state are fighting a deceptive ballot measure that imperils both abortion and trans rights.

It's Intersex Awareness Day! The "I" in LGBTQIA is for intersex people, born with bodies that don’t fit neatly into male or female boxes. Like others under the umbrella, intersex people face stigma and discrimination. Be an ally and amplify intersex voices! 🗳️ Young people deserve a voice in the decisions shaping their lives, even before they are old enough to vote. Q***r the Ballot is a youth-led initiative equipping LGBTQ+ young people with practical tools to do just that!

We want to highlight the youth leadership coming out of North Carolina and Virginia, where Alex Howard in Raleigh, NC, and Christopher Grady in Virginia are helping lead this work. Their voices are helping shape the future and show civic engagement goes beyond the ballot box. Read more:

From California to North Carolina, young people are building tools to help their peers influence decisions that shape their schools, healthcare, and futures.

Calling all parents of trans youth! Join our Parent & Cargiver Support Group this Sunday for a conversation with Ignacio Hutía Xeiti Rivera, M.A. (they/elle), founder of Heal Sweet Home. Parents of trans and gender-expansive children are often searching for guidance in uncertain times. But what if some of the most important questions aren't about gender at all? This interactive conversation invites parents to reflect on relationship, fear, trust, and the everyday moments that shape how we grow alongside our children. We can’t wait to see you at the Lavender South Volume I launch party in Nashville on November 5th! We are excited to have Tornsey at the event, a local musician whose work centers many of the same themes found in The Lavender South anthology.

From Vallejo, California, now living in Nashville, Tornsey explores reflective, deeply personal songwriting to share her process of leaving a constrictive religion and accepting her sexuality - a story that’s brought them into community, acceptance, and beautiful relationships.

We are deeply aware that anti-trans state and federal policies are impacting adult gender-affirming care access- and we are doing something about it. The Trans in the South Access Project is designed to help trans Southerners continue to access gender-affirming care. Resources available include:

-The Trans in the South Guide, a directory of gender-affirming healthcare providers across the South
-Our “Funding Your Transition” page, listing national, regional, and state-specific organizations that provide financial support to help trans adults access care.
-An up-to-date list of telehealth gender-affirming care providers available to trans Southerners

In North Carolina and Tennessee, we are piloting a dedicated care navigation service, giving trans adults the option to connect with a live care navigator who can help them connect with the resources they need to continue accessing care.

Learn more about these resources and get connected at: https://southernequality.org/trans-in-the-south-access-project/
