Great Conversations. Valuable Insights. Voices That Matter!

Our FIRST CO-AGE Regional Transportation Listening Session was a SUCCESS!

Last week, we gathered at the Gainesville Civic Center to hear firsthand experiences, exchange ideas, and discuss transportation and mobility challenges affecting older Georgians.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who showed up, spoke up, and helped move the conversation forward!

Special thanks to The Center at ACCA for facilitating our discussions and Legacy Link Area Agency on Aging (AAA) for sponsoring breakfast!

🚍 Here are a few preliminary themes we heard:

🔹Funding & Infrastructure: Greater investment in transportation services and resources.

🔹Technology: Expanding access while addressing digital barriers.

🔹Person-Centered Service: More flexible transportation options that meet individual needs.

🔹Better Coordination: Improving connections between transportation systems and services.

While the listening session has concluded, the work continues! GCOA will continue reviewing the feedback collected to help inform future advocacy efforts.

Want to stay informed and be part of the conversation?

Last week, our team helped facilitate a regional listening session in Gainesville with the Georgia Council on Aging and CO-AGE. Older adults, caregivers, and community advocates came together to discuss transportation challenges, explore solutions, and help shape future priorities across Georgia.

We're so grateful to be part of conversations like these that give us the opportunity to listen, learn, and advocate for the needs of our older neighbors.
