This past Memorial Day, Consul Jannes Dewulf, attended the City of Dunwoody’s commemoration hosted by Mayor Lynn Deutsch in honour of the brave American service members who made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.
Belgium and the United States are bound by a shared history, one written in courage and solidarity. Thousands of American soldiers who fell in the pursuit of liberty are laid to rest on Belgian soil, a lasting symbol of our enduring friendship.
The memorial featured our Battle of the Bulge Exhibit Traveling Exhibit. Served to educate and pay tribute and express our deepest gratitude. Their legacy lives on in the values we continue to defend together.
We remember. We honour. We will never forget. 🇧🇪 🇺🇸

🌈 Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT) and the kick off of Brussels Pride!
Belgium made history as the second country in the world to legalize same‑sex marriage, on June 1, 2003. Today, we proudly rank 2nd on the ILGA‑Europe Rainbow Index a testament to progress, and a reminder that the journey toward full equality continues.
Proud of how far we’ve come. Committed to building an even freer, more inclusive society for all. 🇧🇪 🇪🇺

Earlier this week we were pleased to welcome students from the Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business to the Belgian Residence following their participation in the MBA International Practicum focused on Belgium.
⚫🟡🔴
Under the guidance of Professor John Parkerson, the students explored challenges in global management and worked on real-world consulting projects for Belgian companies active in Georgia. Their work highlighted the value of international collaboration and cross-border innovation. 💻🌐
As part of the program, the students were able to travel to Belgium where they visited the companies’ headquarters, EU institutions, FIT office and made cultural visits to Bruges, Ghent and Brussels. It was wonderful to hear about their travels to Belgium. 🚌
A warm thank you to Professor Parkerson, the Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business, and all students involved for picking Belgium as course subject, and for the hard work and valuable insights they delivered to the Belgian companies. We look forward to more partnerships and strengthened trade relations between Belgium and Georgia! 🇧🇪

👋 Meet Liese, our new intern who will be joining the team for the next three months.
Liese completed her Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences at VUB and UGent, and is currently finishing her Master’s in International Politics at KU Leuven. 📚
Liese speaks Dutch, English, and French, and has acquired basic knowledge of Spanish during her previous experiences abroad. She has a strong interest in international affairs and enjoys travelling and discovering new cultures! 🌍✈️
Why the Consulate General of Atlanta⁉
"Since the start of my academic path, it has been a goal of mine to complete my studies with a hands-on experience as a diplomatic intern. Being able to join the Consular Team in Atlanta will be an extremely valuable opportunity to experience the Southerner American culture and vibrant city life in one of the fastest-growing regions of the US. The extensive economic ties the region holds with Belgium, as well as Atlanta’s role as a host city of the 2026 World Cup ⚽, makes this a great place to get a firsthand experience on what Belgium diplomacy looks like from the inside. I find working abroad while being able to represent Belgium and support my fellow nationals as a great privilege, and I am thrilled to do so in the lively city of Atlanta for the upcoming months!"
Join me in welcoming Liese to Atlanta! 🏙🍑🌳🇺🇸
