Mayor Connie Alsobrook and Council Member Anthony Pacheco joined forces at last night’s City Council Work Session to proclaim June as Immigrant Heritage Month in the city of Conyers! They alternately read a proclamation recognizing that immigrants continue to grow businesses, strengthen our economy, and create jobs in Conyers and around the nation while bringing vibrancy and weaving culture in the fabric of our community.

Citizens and representatives from a number of businesses and organizations attended in support of the proclamation and are pictured with Mayor Alsobrook and Council Member Pacheco.

Join us in congratulating Tommie Burdette on five years of service in Public Works and Transportation! Tommie started with the city through a temp service, where he quickly showed a strong work ethic and dedication to the job. After being hired full-time, he earned a Class B CDL within his first month and became the driver and operator of the city’s brush truck.

“Tommie has been a valuable part of keeping Conyers clean and safe,” said Public Works Manager Gabe Ramsey. “No matter the task, we know the job will be done efficiently and correctly.”

Please join us in thanking Tommie for five years of service and wishing him a happy birthday as it’s his birthday week! 🎉🎂Thank you for your hard work, Tommie!

30 years of service celebrated for Sergeant Peggy Franklin.

From her start in 1996 in 911 Communications during the Olympic era, to becoming a sworn officer in 2000 and a charter member of the REACH Unit, Sgt. Franklin has helped shape community policing in Conyers for decades.

Today, she continues her commitment as SRO Sergeant at CJ Hicks Elementary—building trust, safety, and connection every step of the way. Congratulations on 30 years of dedicated service to the City of Conyers.
