Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation is partnering with the Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH) to launch the Texas Supportive Housing Institute to provide technical assistance to developers, service providers and property managers interested in creating and operating supportive housing in their communities.
If you or a developer team you might know of is interested in learning more, visit https://bit.ly/42OZV8d and mark your calendars for the applications opening May 29 and an informational webinar June 4. Institute applications will close July 17.
The Institute is a comprehensive, highly interactive capacity-building initiative that delivers training and targeted technical assistance to participating supportive housing teams in the markets of Collin, Dallas, Denton, and Tarrant counties. Teams will receive information, resources and tools to create successful permanent supportive housing projects, to move people out of long-term homelessness, and to help formerly homeless tenants remain stably housed.
A complete team consists of a housing developer, service provider, and property manager. Teams may include additional members at their discretion. If you don’t have a complete team, you may still apply, and TSAHC will work with you to identify partners at the outset of the Institute.

Last month, we had the privilege of attending the home blessing ceremony for Kevin Kearney.
During the devastating July 4 flood in the Hunt-Ingram area, Kevin’s home was destroyed by rising floodwaters in the middle of the night. Forced to act quickly, he grabbed a backpack with a few essentials and leapt into the bed of his pickup truck as it floated past his front door. Swept nearly half a mile through the darkness, Kevin survived by sheltering in the truck bed after it became lodged in a cluster of trees, until the water receded enough for him to climb down and make his way toward the Hunt Store, where he was eventually reunited with family and helped to safety.
In the difficult months that followed, Kevin stayed with family while beginning the long journey toward recovery. Through the support of the The Community Foundation and TSAHC’s Rebuild Kerr DPA program, Kevin was able to purchase the home he now proudly calls his own.
We are honored to have supported Kevin on his journey home. This milestone would not have been possible without the partnership of The Community Foundation, Leslie Robertson, Mortgage, and Connective. Thank you for your collaboration and commitment to helping Texans recover and rebuild.
