MARVIN BRAUD BOATWAY TEMPORARY CLOSURE

Ascension Parish Government announces that the Marvin Braud Boatway will temporarily close effective Friday, October 9, 2026, at 8:00 AM in preparation for potential severe weather impacts from Tropical Storm Isaias.

Boat owners, commercial mariners, and area residents are strongly urged to utilize the remaining time prior to the closure to access the boat way and complete all necessary tasks, including securing vessels, removing gear, and performing severe weather preparations.

Once closed on Friday morning, the boat way will remain inaccessible to watercraft traffic until weather conditions improve and parish officials conduct necessary safety evaluations to reopen the facility.

Ascension Parish officials and the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (OHSEP) continue to closely monitor the trajectory of Tropical Storm Isaias. Residents are encouraged to monitor local weather updates, secure loose outdoor items, and stay informed through official parish communication channels.

For additional updates regarding facility reopenings and weather alerts, please visit ascensionparishla.gov or follow Ascension Parish Government on social media.
