🌳🌿 Growing a Greener Baxter! 🌿🌳
Exciting things are happening at Giese Park!
The City of Baxter and Baxter Hometown Pride were fortunate to receive a grant from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to bring more trees to our community!
Thanks to this grant, a little over 80 new trees are being planted at Giese Park! These trees will provide shade, beauty, and environmental benefits for generations to come.
Today was especially exciting as we had local students join in to help with the planting! What a wonderful opportunity for our young people to get their hands dirty, give back to their community, and someday be able to say, "I helped plant that tree!" ❤️
We also want to give an EXTRA BIG THANK-YOU to our Baxter Public Works Department! There has been a tremendous amount of work going on behind the scenes to prepare for this project. From mapping out where each tree will go, to digging holes, unloading trees, and getting everything ready for planting, our Public Works crew has put in countless hours to help make this happen. It's a lot of hard work that often goes unseen, and we truly appreciate everything they do for our community!
A HUGE thank-you as well to Baxter Hometown Pride, the Iowa DNR, our students, and EVERYONE who has volunteered their time and energy to help make this project possible. Projects like this take a lot of planning, coordination, and teamwork, and we are so grateful for everyone who has played a part!
It's pretty special to see our community come together to invest in something that will continue growing long after today.
Here's to growing something beautiful together, Baxter! 💚
