The mission of the Office of Diversity & Inclusion (ODI), in collaboration with students, faculty, staff and administration, is to plan and implement programs and projects that build a community that values and respects the differences and commonalities that each and every individual brings to Lamar. The goal of all programming is the focus on the needs of our diverse student body and to ensure that the right conditions are in place for each student to feel valued, respected and supported. Students and members of students organizations are integral members of the planning teams for all the programs on campus that celebrate the national observances of diversity, i.e., Hispanic Heritage Month, Black History Month, Women’s History Month, as well as Pride Month and Lamar’s International Awareness Month. Members of the Multicultural Student Advisory Council (MSAC), an Office of Diversity and Inclusion sponsored organization, with faculty and staff are charged with the planning and implementation of Lamar's Diversity and Inclusion Conference. The active involvement of students and student organizations in all programming initiatives provides a training ground for the development of leadership skills.
