SCHEDULE CHANGE: Montana Department of Transportation just announced that work will now occur on Tuesday, Oct. 27 and Wednesday, Oct. 28. The original post below has been updated to reflect that change.

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is partnering with BNSF Railway to complete asphalt patching near the railroad crossing at Jackrabbit Lane and Main Street in Belgrade.

Crews will be working on Tuesday, Oct. 27, and Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. This schedule is dependent on weather and any other unforeseen factors.

Traffic control will be in place. Motorists and pedestrians should follow all posted signage and watch for workers. During the repairs, southbound traffic on Jackrabbit Lane with be closed. Northbound traffic on Jackrabbit Lane will be reduced to one travel lane.

A number of our team members are attending the Montana Fire Service Convention in Helena this week. Brian Fennessy, Director U.S. Wildland Fire Service gave an outstanding key note report of this new role in the federal government. Those who attended walked away encouraged that positive changes are underway.

It’s an honor to stand with a competent executive team, that is moving CVFD to the next level of service for the communities we service.

This conference is loading us up with new tools to use. Many thanks goes out to the hands that have put this week together for all fire agencies across Montana.

A red flag warning is in effect for our area from noon to 9 p.m. 🔥

Warm temperatures, strong winds and very dry air mean any fire that starts this afternoon could spread fast and be hard to stop.

What to expect:
💨 Wind gusts up to 45 mph
🚨 Humidity as low as 13%
🌡 Temperatures up to 81°

A few simple steps help a lot. Keep vehicles and equipment off dry grass, secure trailer chains so they don’t drag and spark, and put out ci******es completely.

See smoke or flames? Call 911 right away.

🚧 TRAFFIC ALERT: Upcoming Railroad Crossing Closure 🚧

The City of Belgrade has been notified of an upcoming railroad crossing closure at Jackrabbit Lane and Main Street due to repair work being conducted by BNSF Railway.

Closure Details:

📅 Dates: October 13–15
⏰ Start Time: Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 8 AM
🚧 Duration: At least 48 hours, with the possibility of an extended closure depending on repair needs.

Motorists should plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use alternate routes during the closure.

The City is working to obtain additional information from BNSF and will share updates as they become available.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as this work takes place.

September by the Numbers 📊

Our crews answered 282 calls for help across the district last month.

That included 171 medical calls, 30 patient transfers between medical facilities, 29 public service calls, 24 vehicle crashes, 12 fires, 12 hazardous materials and other calls, and 4 rescues.

With September in the books, we've now responded to 2,500 calls so far this year. Thank you to our crews for showing up every time, and to our neighbors for your continued support.

🌧️☀️❄️ REGARDLESS OF THE WEATHER… FALL FESTIVAL GOES ON!! 💚🐾

Just like pretty much ANY outdoor event in Montana, you come prepared for ALL FOUR SEASONS. 😂

Our family keeps a blanket, parka, sunscreen, extra clothes, flip flops, raincoats, umbrellas AND an ice scraper in the car year-round… because, Montana. 🤷‍♀️😂 You just never know what you’re going to get!

Fall Festival memories have been popping up this week, and 9 years ago it was FREEZING. 🥶 Like… REALLY freezing. And guess what? We still had a GREAT Fall Festival and made some pretty awesome memories!

So rain, shine, cold, hot ….or some combination of all four …FALL FESTIVAL IS HAPPENING! 🙌

BUT… we need EVERYONE to start doing their best NO RAIN DANCE right now!! 💃🏻☀️😂

Because there is ONE thing Mother Nature can mess with…🐴 THE CLYDESDALES! 🐴

If we get too much rain, they will not be able to appear in the parade. So cross your fingers, do your no-rain dance, talk nicely to Mother Nature… whatever you’ve got to do because WE WANT TO SEE THOSE CLYDESDALES coming down Main Street!! 😍

Otherwise …dress in layers, throw half your closet in the car and COME HAVE FUN WITH US! 😂
