⚖️ Bringing the Classroom into the Courtroom! 👮♂️👮♀️
The Lake Michigan College Police Academy recently had the opportunity to conduct mock preliminary examinations at the Berrien County Courthouse in Judge Jennifer L. Smith’s courtroom!
This valuable hands-on experience gave our recruits the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the judicial process, practice providing courtroom testimony, and experience firsthand the important role law enforcement plays in the criminal justice system.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Judge Smith for graciously opening her courtroom to our academy and supporting the education of our future law enforcement officers.
We would also like to sincerely thank Prosecutor Amy Byrd, Chief Trial Attorney Mark Sanford, and Chief Public Defender Scott Sanford for sharing their time, expertise, and knowledge with our recruits. Their participation helped make this training both realistic and educational.
Experiences like these are an essential part of preparing our recruits for the challenges and responsibilities they will face throughout their law enforcement careers.
Thank you to everyone involved for investing in the next generation of law enforcement professionals!
