Scammers are once again targeting our community, and this time they're claiming to be Deputy Green or Captain Davenport, stating they are collecting fines on behalf of the federal government for missed federal jury duty.

⚠️ DON'T FALL FOR IT!

🚫 The Sheriff's Office will NEVER call demanding payment for missed jury duty.

🚫 Do NOT provide personal information or send money.

🚫 Don't be fooled if the caller knows your name, uses an actual employee's name, or sounds official.

Hang up! If you're unsure, contact the Gilpin County Sheriff's Office directly at 303-582-5500 to verify the information.

Please share this reminder with your friends, family, and neighbors. Scammers may change their stories, but our message stays the same: When in doubt, hang up and check it out!

HAPPY NATIONAL FIRST RESPONDERS DAY!

Today, October 28, we recognize the incredible men and women who answer the call, no matter the time, the weather, or the circumstances.

From law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, search and rescue teams, and all those who serve on the front lines - THANK YOU!

Being a first responder is more than a profession. It’s a commitment to showing up when someone needs help, bringing calm to chaos, and making a difference, often on someone's most difficult day.

Here in Gilpin County, we are fortunate to work alongside some truly remarkable first responders. We are grateful for the teamwork, dedication, compassion, and friendships that make our emergency response community so special.

🎃👻 WHAT A SPOOKTACULAR NIGHT, GILPIN COUNTY! 🦖🍬

The candy was flowing, the costumes were amazing, and we’re happy to report that all deputies survived the dinosaur invasion!

A HUGE thank you to everyone who stopped by to see the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office at Friday night’s Spooky Stroll! We loved seeing all the creative costumes, smiling faces, and families enjoying a fun evening together!

Events like these remind us just how lucky we are to serve such an incredible community. Getting to share some laughs, hand out treats, and connect with our neighbors is one of our favorite parts of what we do!

A special thank you to everyone who helped organize this wonderful event and made the evening so memorable!

Happy National Boss's Day! 💙🚔

Behind every great team is a leader who inspires, encourages, supports, and occasionally wonders what their team is up to! 😉

Today, we're giving a special shoutout to Sheriff Kevin Armstrong and all the incredible supervisors and leaders who help keep the Gilpin County Sheriff's Office running strong!

Leadership isn't just about a title or a badge. It's about showing up, leading by example, making tough decisions, supporting your team, and knowing when a little humor (or a LOT of coffee ) can make all the difference.

To our Sheriff and all the amazing bosses out there, THANK YOU for your dedication, patience, guidance, and commitment to those you lead. Your efforts often happen behind the scenes, but they certainly don't go unnoticed!

Winter weather can change quickly in Colorado! Make sure your vehicle is winter-ready, pack an emergency kit, check road conditions, and plan ahead.

The first impactful mountain snow of the season is becoming increasingly likely (>75% chance) this week with locations at and above 10,000 feet being the most favored. Some travel impacts are possible in the high country, especially Wednesday PM through Thursday AM. Snowfall could linger into Thursday afternoon and evening. All rain is expected below 7,000 feet with rainfall amounts of generally a quarter to three quarters of an inch with the lighter amounts across the southeast plains. A frost/freeze is also becoming increasingly likely for the plains for Friday AM with lows dipping into the 30s for the plains.

⚠️TRAVEL ALERT⚠️ | Rock scaling on US 119 near Black Hawk

Rock scaling operations will take place near Mile Point 7 on US 119 from 10/12 to 10/14/26 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Drivers should expect intermittent traffic holds of less than 20 minutes while crews safely remove unstable rock from the slope. All four lanes will be held during these operations, with traffic released once the work zone is clear.

The work will address unstable rock remaining from a previous rockfall event and help reduce the potential for future closures. Crews will work to minimize delays.
