With first responders week this week I wanted to show a small snapshot of the generations of first responders that served the VT community and carried the value of UT Prosim to their lives after Blacksburg. Alumni have touched countless lives. This is the picture from the 2019 (50th) Banquet.

I got my open water diver when I was in Blacksburg but we dove a hole in the New River under a overpass in Pulaski, this looks much better. Anyone know this story?

These are EMTs and Paramedics that were killed that day. The 2 FDNY medics are included in the 343 but the others deserve to be remembered also, as well as the thousands who have died since. FDNY sent 14,000 members to the pile that day and in the days to follow, of that 14,000 almost 5,000 have gotten cancer in the years since. They need to be remembered, and this year for the first time we are acknowledging their sacrifices also.
We say "never forget" but now the kids coming on the job were not alive then. It is not only about not forgetting but about teaching those who can't remember so they don't have to suffer like we did.

VT students are always on the cutting edge of New technology. In this picture we see one of the first use of the red solo cup.
Invented in the 1970s by Robert Leo Hulseman of the Solo Cup Company, the Red Solo Cup was originally created in peach, yellow, blue, and red. The red variant was ultimately chosen as the best-seller and became an American cultural icon synonymous with backyard barbecues, tailgating, and college parties

I am always amazed by the reach of VTRS and the LMAA. While at a trauma confrance Stephanie Clark looked up the speaker was Collin Witmore, talking about the importance of collerbation. He also briefly spoke about his role in his response to April 16. This just shows your VTRS connections are for life and you never know when you will run into another life member or alumi.
