Thank you to the Santee Fire Department for responding so quickly to a false alarm at our new Santee shelter this morning! Luckily, everything was all clear — so the crew moved on to another urgent situation: getting some quality pet cuddles in.

Yesterday, our Animal Control Officers executed a warrant at a Rancho Santa Fe residence and rescued seven dogs found living in unsafe and unsanitary conditions.

Five of the dogs were among a larger group of 39 animals rescued from the same property earlier this year.

The dog pictured is one of the seven safely recovered and being cared for at our Santee shelter.

Celebrating sweet Davey Jones and his amazing adoption story!

Davey came to us with a fractured hip joint, and his new mom opened her home to foster him during his healing journey. It didn’t take long for Davey to fit in like a glove. He bonded instantly with his new cat siblings, and before she knew it… his mom couldn’t imagine life without him.

Now this brave little guy is officially home.
Happy Adoption Day, Davey Jones! 💛🐾
