West Baton Rouge Parish, LA — On Tuesday, October 27, 2026 West Baton Rouge Parish Government issued a parish-wide burn ban due to extremely high dry conditions that can create a risk of wildfires in the area.
This ban is effective immediately and shall remain in full force until officially rescinded by the Parish President Jason Manola.

This decision was made following consultation with West Baton Rouge Fire Chief Butch Browning and Director of Emergency Preparedness Deano Moran.

Effective immediately, all outdoor open burning is prohibited throughout West Baton Rouge Parish, including the burning of leaves, grass, limbs, yard debris and other combustible materials.

Exemptions to the burn ban include lawful agricultural burning, prescribed burning and contained cooking or recreational fires within proper fire pits or enclosures, as permitted under Louisiana law.

All residents are urged to cooperate fully to protect the lives and property throughout West Baton Rouge Parish.

West Baton Rouge Parish Government will notify the public once the burn ban has been officially lifted. We appreciate our residents’ cooperation and understanding during this time.
