The leading non-profit serving veterans in Ventura County, Gold Coast Veterans Foundation (GCVF) provides a “one-stop” resource center connecting more than 3,000 veterans every year with benefits and comprehensive care. Nine core in-house programs intervene to disrupt the root causes of suffering, homelessness and poor life outcomes. These include Mobile Veteran Outreach, case management, health care, job training & placement, workforce development, low-income housing assistance, counseling, and wellness. GCVF remains open full-time as an ‘essential service’ to rescue veterans from homelessness during Covid-19.

A little Halloween fun with a whole lot of team spirit! Our hardworking Gold Coast Veterans Foundation team traded their everyday work attire for some spooktacular costumes (racing pit crew member, a salad, Howard Hughes & a hospital patient) and enjoyed a little early Halloween celebration! 🧡

We’re lucky to have a team that brings compassion, dedication, and plenty of personality to our mission of supporting local veterans.

From our GCVF family to yours, Happy Halloween! Have a safe, fun, and frightfully festive holiday! 🦇

More than 33,000 veterans call Ventura County home. Let’s show them our support!

Behind every number is a story of service, sacrifice, and dedication to our country. Veterans from every branch of the U.S. Armed Forces are an important part of our community, and they deserve our support long after their military service ends.

Did you know?
• Nearly 18 million veterans live across the United States, representing approximately 6% of the adult population. 33,000+ veterans live right here in Ventura County!
• Veterans Day vs. Memorial Day: Veterans Day honors those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, while Memorial Day honors servicemembers who died in military service.
• Ventura County has a strong military presence. Naval Base Ventura County includes Naval Air Station Point Mugu, Port Hueneme, and San Nicolas Island.

We’re proud to stand alongside the veterans who have given so much to our nation. Through outreach, benefits assistance, transportation, food support, and medical and mobility equipment, we help veterans access the resources they need to thrive.

We’re kicking off our Veterans Day Food Drive at Semtech!

We're proud to partner with Manna Conejo Valley Food Bank to help ensure local veterans have access to nutritious food all year long. Through this partnership, veterans can visit Manna’s well-stocked pantry, while GCVF coordinates grocery deliveries for homebound veterans who can’t drive themselves. Now, we need YOU to help keep the shelves stocked!

Want to make a difference? Drop off food donations at our Camarillo office and help support the veterans who have served our country. Every can, every box, and every helping hand makes a difference. Together, we can help ensure no veteran in our community goes hungry. 💙

Homelessness doesn’t have to be the end of the story. With the right support, a new chapter can begin. Tyler, a former U.S. Navy Seabee, faced a difficult period that left him without stable housing. Finding a way forward meant navigating housing programs, connecting with resources, and overcoming barriers that can be overwhelming without help. That’s where we stepped in.

Through our Mobile Veteran Outreach services, housing navigation, and case management (and with the support of the Ventura County VA VASH team and community partners), Tyler found a path toward stability.

Today, Tyler has a stable place to call home! Our local move-in project coordinator and community partners also helped connect him with furniture, turning an empty space into a more welcoming home. Every connection, every resource, and every act of support can help a veteran take the next step toward a brighter future.

This is the power of in-kind donations. Equipment you no longer need could help a local veteran maintain mobility, independence, and confidence in everyday life.

For Michael, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, his seated walker was more than a mobility aid. It was his trusty “Black Cadillac.” After three years of daily use and countless trips in and out of vehicles, it began to break down, making it harder for him to get around. That’s when a county social worker reached out to Gold Coast Veterans Foundation (GCVF) for help.

Our team member Charles cleaned, tuned up, and delivered a donated seated walker right to Michael’s apartment. With an easier-to-use folding mechanism, the new walker was a much better fit for Michael’s needs. And what did he name his new ride? The “Red Rider”!

Do you have gently used medical or mobility equipment sitting unused at home? Walkers, wheelchairs, and other mobility aids may be just what another veteran needs. Learn how to donate: https://gcvf.org/donors/

Some veterans leave a lasting mark on our hearts. Al was one of them.

At 101 years old, Al leaves behind a remarkable legacy of service and a special place in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. We are deeply saddened by the passing of Al, a U.S. Army veteran who served our country from 1942 to 1945 and was a client of our medical and mobility equipment program. He passed away peacefully in September, and we will miss him dearly.

Our relationship with Al began in 2018, when a friend referred him to us for mobility assistance. As his health and needs changed over the years, we worked to find solutions that helped him maintain his independence and stay connected to his community.

From trying different mobility scooters to eventually providing a compact power wheelchair, our goal was always to find equipment that worked for Al and his daily life. The wheelchair allowed him to navigate the narrow hallways of his senior community and join others at the dining table. These moments may seem small, but they matter. Sometimes, the right piece of equipment can mean more independence, greater connection, and a better quality of life.

When Al needed a higher level of care at the end of 2025, we retrieved his power wheelchair so another veteran could benefit from it—a reminder that this equipment continues to make a difference in the lives of those who served.

It was an honor to support Al over the years. We are grateful to have been part of his journey, and we will remember him with deep respect and affection. Rest peacefully, Al. Thank you for your service to our nation. 🇺🇸

After 20 years in the U.S. Navy, Juan faced a new challenge following a divorce and his return to Oxnard: finding stable housing and rebuilding his independence. When Juan reached out to the VA clinic in Ventura for help, he was connected with us.

Through teamwork between GCVF, Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF), county agencies, and community partners, Juan received personalized support and housing assistance. In just two months, those partnerships helped him secure housing at Ventura Springs. Juan has settled into his new home in Ventura County and has a fresh opportunity to build a stable future. Juan’s story shows what’s possible when a community comes together for those who served.

Some journeys honor the service you gave. Others remind you that your service will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸 Longtime GCVF volunteer and Army veteran, John, recently traveled to Washington, D.C., with Honor Flight Central Coast California for a moving experience visiting memorials dedicated to those who served our nation.

Honor Flight is an all-volunteer nonprofit that provides free trips to Washington, D.C., for veterans from Monterey County through Ventura County to visit the memorials honoring their service. John hopes more GCVF veterans will take advantage of this special opportunity!
