Mark you calendars for two performances in the month of November!

November 10th at 6 p.m., Temple Elementary School has awarded us the golden ticket tour of W***y Wonka's Chocolate Factory in "W***y Wonka Kids."

November 17th at 7:30 p.m., the University of West Georgia Wind Ensemble has crafted a night of American musical impressions of art, popular music, and patriotism.

We are looking back to an incredible night with "The President's Own" United States Marine Band on Saturday, October 24th!

Under the direction of Lt. Col. Ryan Nowlin and Assistant Director Capt. Jose D. Toranzo, the audience was entertained by musical selections from the band's 17th director John Philip Sousa with "The Glory of the Yankee Navy" and his most famous march "The Stars and Stripes Forever."

We were taken to the opera and the movies with Leonard Bernstein's "Overture to Candide" based on Voltaire's satirical novella from 1759, and "The Cowboys Overture" composed by John Williams for the John Wayne film "The Cowboys" from 1971.

Morten Lauridsen's composition "O Magnum Mysterium" gave us the reflection on the wonder of the birth of Jesus Christ.

The band performed a composition from the band's director Lt. Col. Ryan Nowlin "Let Freedom Ring" which he composed in 2010.

The words of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's poem "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" set to music by composer Paul Dukas came to life that was also featured in the Disney film "Fantasia."

Two of the soloists for this year's tour stood front and center displaying their talents. Master Sergeant Patrick Morgan performed Carl Mariavon Weber's "Concertino for Clarinet, Opus 26" and Staff Sergeant Hannah Davis helped bring the world of Jazz to the performance hall with her voice with songs by brothers George and Ira Gershwin with "The First Lady of Song" including selections of "They Can't Take That Away from Me," "Embraceable You," and "I Got Rhythm."

The final selection honored the men and women of the United States military with an arrangement of "A Salute of the Armed Forces of the United States of America" arranged by late "The President's Own" United States Marine Band member Thomas Knox.

After the performance, members of the band took time to answer questions from many of our students that were in attendance for the show.

This was truly an unforgettable night of music and an honor to host "The President's Own" United States Marine Band in our performance hall!

We are excited for "The President's Own" United States Marine Band performing Saturday, October 24th at 7:30 p.m.

If you are attending the concert, here are a few reminders:

🎟️ Patrons with tickets must be in their seats 15 minutes prior to the performance.

🛄 We are a Clear Bag Policy facility.

🅿️ Parking will be located in the back of the Performing Arts Center, the Carroll County Schools District Office, the Carroll County Schools Teaching and Learning Center, and the parking lot behind the Carroll County Public Defender’s Office.

🚌 Shuttles will begin pick up from the Dennis M. Thompson Amphitheater at 6:15 p.m., and will drop off at the front door of the Performing Arts Center. They will run 30 minutes after the performance, dropping off at the Dennis M. Thompson Amphitheater.

🚪 Lobby doors of the Performing Arts Center will open at 6:30 p.m., and the Auditorium will open at 6:45 p.m.

🚫 Absolutely no food or drink are allowed in the Auditorium.

Central Middle School, Carrollton, Georgia's Band Fall Concert
October 8, 2026

Our week of performances wrapped up with Central Middle School's 7th and 8th grade bands displaying their hard work they have put in leading up to the middle of the semester by performing a total of six selections of music.

The 7th grade band performed "Andromeda Fafare" a piece named after the nearest galaxy to the Milky Way composed by Mekel Rogers. "Creepy Crawlies" composed by Michael Story to get the audience prepared for Halloween, and the final piece "The Distant Castle" composed by James Swearingen took us to Matsumoto, Japan to the Black Castle representing the Japanese culture.

The 8th grade band kicked off their portion of the concert with Michael Oare's "Red Comet," followed by "The Cauldron Bubbles" composed by Jason Nitsch, another tune to prepare for Halloween. The 8th grade band wrapped up the night on a high note with "Upbeat!" composed by Randall Standridge that time-traveled back to the music of the 60s & 70s.

A Night of Chamber Music with Villa Rica High School Band
October 7, 2026

42 ensembles stepped on stage to connect with the audience through various styles of music spanning from Beethoven and Mozart to Holst and Lombardo.

Chamber music is a form of classical music composed for a small grouping of instruments with each performer having a distinctive part. Because of the size, historically, chamber music is heard in more intimate settings and within the home. It's also known as the music of friends.

The night also featured directors Mr. R. Kevin Brown and Ms. Ann Wilson performing with their students on a few pieces.

Villa Rica Middle School Band Fall Concert
October 6, 2026

As the week of concerts continue as we have arrived at the midway point of the semester, the showcases of hard work and talent continue to shine.

The 7th and 8th grade bands of Villa Rica Middle School under the direction of Mrs. Kylie Hamilton-Lord took the stage with each band performing three selections.

The 7th grade band performed "Ritmático" by Victor López, "A Shaker Hymn" by John O'Reilly, and "Star-Taker (The Astrolabe of Verona)" by Laura Estes.

The 8th grade band premiered "Dreams of Freedom" composed by Ahmad Duncan, who was in the audience to hear his composition performed for the first time. The band also performed the Michael Sweeney arrangement of "Down to the River to Pray," an old spiritual that found its way to popularity from the film "O, Brother Where Art Thou." The evening wrapped up with the final selection of "Frogs" composed by Randall Standridge.

Villa Rica High School Chorus - Fall Concert
October 5, 2026

The voices of the Villa Rica High School Chorus sang selections from a wide variety of music featuring many talented soloists.

Many of the group selections included "Sure on the Shining Night," "Don't Leave Me," and "Day of Fire and Sun." Selections including soloists were "Medieval Gloria" featuring Justin Hurst, "Malakatumba" featuring Evelyn Woodard, Rhema Ogunlaja, Paulette Hogelin, Ximena Del Toro Ponce, Dere'on Evans, Brook Suarez, and Ash Leslie.

The Combined Full VRHS Chorus sang "Driver's License," a song made popular by Olivia Rodrigo, and the chorus performed a medley of songs from Lin-Manuel Miranda's hit Broadway musical "Hamilton" featuring soloists Faith Pittman, Valeria Feliciano, Maliyah Pless, Paulette Hogelin, and Ash Leslie.

The night also featured soloists who chose their own pieces to perform. Danielle Hinton performed "One Night Only" from the Broadway musical "Dreamgirls." Valeria Feliciano sang "Lovesick" by Icelandic singer Laufey. AJ Gordneer performed Lewis Capaldi's "Someone You Loved." Justin Hurst with his guitar sang "Take Me Home, Country Roads" by John Denver.
