This is the official page for Cedar Rapids Grant Wood Elementary School. This page will be

Grant Wood school opened in the spring of 1951 and is named after Grant Wood, the Iowa artist known for his regionalism style of art and his most popular oil painting, American Gothic, depicting a farmer and his daughter in front of an American farmhouse. The Cedar Rapids Gazette sponsored a contest to name our school. Tommy Woodhouse, a 5th grader at Buchanan Elementary School, submitted the winning entry. Our school is the first in Cedar Rapids to be named after an artist. The goal of the Grant Wood social media page is to share important news and celebrate the achievements of our students and staff with the community, fostering an open and respectful dialogue. To maintain a positive environment, please adhere to these guidelines. We reserve the right to delete submissions that contain: vulgar language; personal attacks of any kind; sexually suggestive or flirtatious dialogue; offensive comments that target or disparage any ethnic, racial, religious, or other protected group; postings that promote illicit, illegal, or unethical activity; or postings that communicate confidential information about students, staff, or school operations. This page is for open conversation about the school—not personal issues. It is not intended to circumvent regular communication channels; therefore, comments regarding a personal issue with the school, a specific class, or a staff member will be removed.
