WE DID IT! 🎉 $5.5 MILLION RAISED!

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we've reached our original $5.5 million fundraising goal for the B. Young Center! This is an incredible milestone, and we couldn't have gotten here without the people, businesses, and organizations who believe in what this center will mean for our community.

As we get closer to opening, we're looking ahead to what comes next.
Today we're announcing The Road to $6 Million - Finish Strong, Live Young.

We're inviting our community to help raise one final $500,000 to complete construction and establish the B. Young Legacy Fund.

Because we're not just building a center. We're creating a place where friendships flourish, laughter is shared, new experiences begin, and life is celebrated.

We had a special guest at Horizons today! 💛

We were so pleased to welcome Justina Dunlap, winner of our Day with Katie package at Meals on Heels! Justina joined our CEO, Katie Oatsvall, for a one-on-one tour of our facilities, an inside look at the magic behind Meals on Wheels, and an opportunity to help deliver meals to our community.

We loved having Justina spend the day with us and share in the mission that makes Horizons so special. 💙

* Wednesday, 10/28: Open 12–5 PM

We’re excited to announce a pet food drive in partnership with our AniMeals sponsor, Hills Bank! Three Hills Bank locations will host pet food donation boxes to support Horizons’ AniMeals program.

AniMeals provides monthly pet food deliveries for 229 dogs and 269 cats who bring companionship, comfort, and joy to qualifying individuals throughout the Cedar Rapids metropolitan area.

Road Closure Update 📢

Per the City of Cedar Rapids, Midwest Concrete plans to begin setting up traffic control today, Monday, October 26, closing 5th Street SE to through traffic between 8th and 9th Avenues. The existing lane shift on 8th Avenue at 5th Street will also be removed.

Work will begin just south of the 5th Street and 8th Avenue intersection, immediately north of Horizons.

We’re excited to welcome a new bike lane in front of our building! We also recognize how important it is to maintain access to our front door, and the City is working with us to help ensure that access remains available during construction.

What’s Happening Wednesday? 👷

Doors are going in, automatic lights are installed, and work is underway on the bathrooms and new activity rooms at the B. Young Center! It’s exciting to see all the pieces coming together as we get closer to completing phase 1 of 2. 🔨

A big thank you to Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust! 💛

Each year on Indigenous Peoples’ Day, CRBT hosts an all-staff retreat focused on giving back to local nonprofits, and we were thrilled to welcome their team to Horizons!

From cleaning and maintaining our NTS vehicles to tidying up our spaces and stuffing envelopes for our clients, their helping hands made a meaningful difference in supporting the people we serve.
