Since 1993, ICYO has provided Cincinnati youth in under-resourced communities with year-round academic support, mentorship, and enriching experiences that foster growth, confidence, leadership, and opportunity, at no cost to families. Inner City Youth Opportunities (ICYO) provides year-round academic and youth development programming for Cincinnati youth in under-resourced communities, at no cost to families. Through academic support, tutoring, mentorship, enrichment, recreation, and hands-on learning experiences, ICYO provides a consistent and supportive environment where young people can build skills, confidence, positive relationships, and leadership. Academic support, homework assistance, tutoring, literacy, enrichment, youth development, and other learning opportunities. Summer programming combines recreation and enrichment—including tennis, field trips, STEM, art, reading, and other hands-on experiences—with continued opportunities for learning and growth. ICYO was so Blessed to have Mr. Philip Bell join our Monday session of academic tutoring. Mr. Bell spent the afternoon listening to our two new boys read out loud to him while they worked on the phonics of words unfamiliar to the boys.
Mr. Bell will try to be a regular tutor at our Learning Center.

Wednesday and Thursday afternoons this week will be the ICYO Halloween parties.
All students, staff, & tutors may wear costumes.
Plenty of candy and cookies for all.

We're looking for a dependable, compassionate Youth Program Support Specialist to help provide a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for the children in our programs.

📋 What does the job involve?

As a Youth Program Support Specialist, you'll:
🚐 Transport students to and from ICYO programming in a passenger van.
📚 Assist with homework, tutoring, and academic activities.
🎨 Support enrichment activities, games, and other youth development experiences.
🤝 Supervise students and help maintain a safe, positive environment.
📞 Communicate with families and program staff as needed.

🚐 IMPORTANT: DRIVING IS A REQUIRED PART OF THIS POSITION!

Applicants must be comfortable driving a passenger van to transport children. A commercial driver's license (CDL) is NOT required, but student transportation is an essential responsibility of the role.

💼 Position Details

📍 Location: Cincinnati, OH
💰 Starting pay: $21/hour, with opportunities for advancement
🕒 Schedule: Monday–Thursday, approximately 2–8 PM
📅 Hours: Approximately 24 hours per week

A fun & productive evening at the ICYO Learning Center with our Xavier University volunteer tutors helping our ICYO students with homework.
Two new ICYO participants read out loud to Jeanne Bell working on fluencey and phonics, followed by working in their all subject workbooks.

All the kids were invited to write a Halloween spooky story.

Thanks to one Xavier volunteer who took time out to mentor some of our junior h.s. girls about staying focused on academics and not getting blindsided by
boys & dating.

Congratulations to Matthew whom we discovered had great artistic ability and shared a drawing he was createing!
These kids never
disappoint! We love watching them grow and mature over the years when given many opportunies in a safe, loving and accepting environment.

The evening ended with board games & computer games with their tutors, and ice cream bars!!

ICYO students had lots of assistance from U.C. Pi Beta Phi and Sigma Chi.
All the young students were observed on major academic areas that needed improvement.

1.Reading,
Phonics, Blending, Fluency, Vocabulary,
Comprehension, and Repetition.
Reading level books will be sent home with each child.

2.Paragraph writing and story writing
Keeping with the season, the kids are working on their "Writing a Spooky Story"
