🎃👻 Trick-or-treating is more fun when everyone stays safe! Remember to wear bright or reflective clothing, use crosswalks, stay with a buddy, and always watch for traffic. 🚸🍬

🍭 Before your child enjoys their treats, check candy for any choking hazards and keep the Poison Control number handy for accidental ingestions: 1-800-222-1222.

Trick-or-Treat, your way! 🍬

Halloween is full of excitement, but between costumes, crowds, and spooky surprises, trick-or-treating can look a little different for everyone. Here are a few tips to help make the night safer and more accessible for children with disabilities:

🍬 Costume comfort comes first! Choose costumes that allow for comfortable movement, breathing, and communication. Consider sensory-friendly fabrics and designs that work with mobility devices.

🍬 Make visibility a priority. Add reflective materials or lights to costumes and consider face paint instead of masks that may obstruct vision.

🍬 Plan your route. Look for accessible sidewalks, curb ramps, well-lit paths, and homes without stairs or other barriers.

🍬 Take sensory breaks. Bring headphones, identify quiet places to rest, and remember that it's okay to skip overwhelming activities!

🍬 Go at your own pace. Consider shorter routes, quieter times, or alternative celebrations that may work best for your family.

Most importantly, remember that there's no one right way to celebrate! The goal is just to have fun.

What are your favorite tips for a safe, accessible Halloween?
