Our office includes five divisions: the Addiction Response Coalition, Quick Response Team, Op**te Litigation Funds, He**in Task Force support, and grants management. The Hamilton County Office of Addiction Response supports the initiatives of the Hamilton County Addiction Response Coalition, manages OneOhio Op**te Litigation Funds both local and regional allocations, oversees county-wide deflection programs through the Quick Response Team, and provides administrative support to the Hamilton County He**in Task Force and other special projects related to addiction and treatment programs across the county. ADDICTION RESPONSE COALITION:
A collective of community members, leaders, advocates, and experts working to end the opioid epidemic by connecting prevention, treatment, public health, and law enforcement resources to provide care when and where it’s needed most, holistically treating the illness, saving lives, and strengthening families for the health and wellness of Hamilton County. A 20-Member steering committee meets on a monthly basis with the Full Coalition meeting quarterly. QUICK RESPONSE TEAM:
The Quick Response Team (QRT) is a co-responder deflection program that provides community-based substance use, mental health, homelessness, and other needs-based services, with the immediate goal of connecting Hamilton County residents with the most appropriate care specific to their needs. QRT approaches all encounters with the simple message: "How can we help you?"

ONEOHIO OP**TE LITIGATION:
Hamilton County has entered into a settlement agreement with multiple opioid manufacturers and distributors which will result in payouts of over $800 Million to Ohio, its communities, to respond to the opioid crisis. 55% of the settlement dollars are poised to flow through a state-level foundation for ultimate distribution to the nineteen regional foundations establish in Ohio and 30% flows to local governments. The Hamilton County Office of Addiction Response supports the Region 2 and OneOhio Hamilton County local funds. HAMILTON COUNTY HE**IN TASK FORCE:
Established in early 2015 by the Hamilton County Association of Chief of Police, the task force was created a clear mission: to investigate all-source dealers linked to overdoses and overdose deaths, and to prosecute these source dealers under applicable State of Ohio and Federal charges. Additionally, the task force aims to foster cooperation and coordination among the various agencies in Hamilton County involved in drug offense investigations. GRANTS MANAGEMENT & OPERATIONS:
Ohio Deflection Association
Opioid Affected Youth Initiative
Hamilton County Drug Treatment and Recovery Court
Hamilton County Justice Center - Medications for Opioid Use Disorder Induction & the CARE Pods

If we can remove the fear of “What will happen to my dog/cat if I go to treatment?” we may be able to remove one more barrier standing between people and the help they need.

We invite community partners, animal welfare organizations, treatment providers, recovery housing leaders, and others interested in exploring the need for expanded “Companion Care” for individuals entering treatment or recovery to a collaborative conversation.

🎉 Congratulations to Hamilton County Office of Addiction Response and He**in Task Force PhD Fellow Lindsey Insco and her co-authors on their latest publication!

Their article, “The Professionalism of People with Lived Experience in Overdose Treatment and Recovery,” has been published in Drugs: Education, Prevention and Policy.

In partnership with the Hamilton County Addiction Response Coalition and On the Front Lines Community Alliance, the research explores the roles, challenges, and professional development needs of people with lived experience (PWLE) working in substance use treatment and recovery.

Drawing on survey responses from 59 people with lived experience and interviews with seven Quick Response Team personnel, the study highlights how PWLE use their expertise to build trust, navigate complex systems, and connect individuals with essential services across the continuum of care.

The findings also underscore the need to address challenges related to burnout, compensation, career advancement, supervision, training, and stigma. Recognizing lived experience as professional expertise and investing in the workforce that brings it to the table are essential to strengthening our treatment and recovery systems.

We are proud to see this important research contribute to the ongoing effort to professionalize and better support the role of people with lived experience in substance use treatment and recovery.

Congratulations to Lindsey and her co-authors, Hannah Schilling, Francesco P. DiRienzo, Sarah Light, Katherine Rankin, and Sarah M. Manchak, on this important contribution!

Today members of the Local Opioid Abatement Recovery Fund grants team attended the inaugural Fearless Awards, hosted by one our grantees, From Fatherless to Fearless (FFTF). The award ceremony spotlighted five remarkable B.R.I.D.G.E. graduates and five extraordinary women leaders.

B.R.I.D.G.E. is a social-emotional learning curriculum that has been expanded into seven Hamilton County schools. The curriculum is designed to build resilience, self-efficacy, and healthy coping strategies, equipping participants with the skills to avoid substance misuse and navigate life’s
challenges. All five of the adult female professionals honored also experienced hardships or absent parents in their youth, and have committed to being a mentor to the students for at least four months.

These young women have demonstrated courage, perseverance, and determination as they navigate challenges, discover their strengths, and pursue brighter futures. Their stories are at the heart of why FFTF does the work, and why mentorship matters.

Hamilton County is proud to play a part in making this prevention programming possible. Congratulations to From Fatherless to Fearless and all those recognized today!

Congratulations to the On the Front Lines Community Alliance’s Peer Advisory Council for their well deserved recognition 💜

Today, people working on the front lines of addiction response joined the Hamilton County Commissioners as they proclaimed August 31 Overdose Awareness Day.

Since 2017, Hamilton County has seen a 51% reduction in overdose deaths, progress driven by treatment providers, first responders, public health professionals, people with lived experience and community partners working together.

But the work is far from over. Since 2012, 5,220 lives have been lost to overdose in Hamilton County.

Overdose Awareness Day is a time to remember those we have lost, support those in recovery and recognize the people working every day to help save lives and connect residents with treatment and recovery resources.
