🌱🐐 WHAT'S HAPPENING IN FFA & AG AT PENNS MANOR? 🐍🍔

Our Penns Manor FFA members have been busy learning, exploring, and putting their skills into action! 💙💛 From hands-on classroom activities to competing in Career Development Events (CDEs), there is always something exciting happening in Ag!

🌾 Here's a look at what our students have been up to:

🍔 Food Science: Exploring hamburger recipes and making venison jerky
🐐 Career & Leadership: Deworming our goat, Peaches, and welcoming baby guinea pigs!
🦝 Wildlife Science: Learning about edible s**t and mammal identification
🪱 Aquaculture & Fisheries: Adding worms to the gravel bed, working with aquaponics, and testing aquarium water
🪲 Plant Science: Exploring integrated pest management and insects
🐍 Animal Science: Studying reptiles with a special visit from Lucy the Ball Python, who visited every class that day!

🏈💙 GOOD LUCK, JUNIOR HIGH COMETS! 💙🏈

Our Junior High Comets are heading into their FINAL GAME OF THE SEASON tomorrow, Thursday, October 29, at 6:00 PM at home against United Valley!

👏 With last week's 58-6 victory over Northern Cambria, our Comets remain UNDEFEATED with an impressive 7-0 record! 🎉

Let's finish the season strong, boys! We are so proud of all your hard work and accomplishments this season! 💪🏈

🎶🥁 Take a look back at some amazing performances by the Penns Manor Marching Band at the IUP Homecoming Parade and Indiana County Bandfest!

🏆 A HUGE congratulations to Olivia Thompson, PM 8th grade band member, on winning the Bandfest Drill Down competition! Out of more than 80 area band members, Olivia took home the victory in what our social media team understands is Penns Manor’s first Drill Down victory in more than a decade! Congratulations, Olivia, on this outstanding accomplishment! Several PM students also advanced to the final rounds. Way to represent the Comets! 💙🤍 We’re so proud of our musicians and all their hard work!

📣 A special thank you to our PM Cheerleaders for joining the Marching Band for the IUP Homecoming Parade and helping make the day even more special!

❤️ THANK YOU, PENNS MANOR SCHOOL COMMUNITY! ❤️

We are so grateful for the incredible support of our Penns Manor School community during our Penny War and football game collection! Thanks to the generosity and school spirit of our students, families, staff, and community members, we raised OVER $4,000 for our Stockings for Homeless Veterans Project! 🇺🇸🎄

Your kindness and generosity will help us spread some holiday cheer and show our homeless veterans how much they are appreciated and cared for. ❤️

🏆 Congratulations to our 5th Grade students! They are this year’s Penny War champions, making it their THIRD YEAR IN A ROW winning the competition! Way to go, 5th grade! 🎉👏

Thank you to everyone who donated, collected coins, cheered on their grade levels, and helped make this fundraiser such a success. When our Penns Manor community comes together, amazing things happen!

Elementary Halloween parade Friday morning will begin at approximately 9:30 AM! Students will be lining up around 9:25 to parade outside for families and community members (weather permitting!) 🎃 Elementary students will then parade and trick-or-treat through the high school!

High School Costume Contest - Reminder to High School students that the Student Council is sponsoring a costume contest on Friday! See flyer for categories. 👻

Please see flyer sent home for more details regarding the elementary parade - In case of rain, the parade will only be indoors through the high school and no one will be permitted to enter the building for the parade.

Penns Manor will host its Salute to Veterans Luncheon on November 10. ❤️🤍💙

❤️❤️ Red Ribbon Week Theme Days & Bullying Prevention! 🧡

A reminder to check out this week’s Red Ribbon Week theme days for both the high school and elementary school! ❤️🤍 Be sure to participate!

Throughout October, our elementary students also recognized Bullying Prevention Month. Grade-level PATHS Kids of the Day led the school in the Kids Against Bullying Pledge during morning announcements. Fourth and fifth-grade students also welcomed Trooper Greenfield from the Pennsylvania State Police to learn about cyberbullying and online safety.

Students also celebrated Unity Day on October 21 by wearing orange to show their support for kindness. 🧡 Great work, Comets! 💙🤍☄️

🏀 NHS Hosted 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament to Benefit Alzheimer's Association

The National Honor Society held a 3-on-3 basketball tournament to support The Alzheimer's Association, featuring a full day of fun and fundraising! A concession stand was open throughout the day, stocked with generous donations from teachers, staff, and students. NHS also sold tickets for an exciting faculty–student game to close out the event.

🏀 Jr. High Bracket Champions: Coulter Stewart, Easton Smith, Gavin Hudak, Graham Cullen
🏀 Sr. High Bracket Champions: Braylon Griffin, Zachary Mattis, Carter Cullen, and Weston Pavlosky

Both championship teams faced off against the faculty team of Mr. Jason Miloser, Mr. Benjamin Murphy, Ms. Krista Gillo, and Mr. Brandon Dunmire in a fun final matchup! Congrats to the faculty team on their victories over the Senior and Junior High teams!

Penns Manor’s NHS extends a heartfelt thank-you to everyone for their generous donations of food, drinks, money, supplies, and time. Thanks to everyone’s support, NHS raised over $1,200 for The Alzheimer's Association!
