HEADS UP! 🚁

A Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter will be landing at the Colleyville Rec Center this morning around 10am as part of our Junior Police Academy. There is no need for concern.

As we wrap up the initiative to improve vehicle occupant safety, Capt. Tinsman and Officer Weatheread spoke to the Junior Police Academy about how they can help! Participants learned about the importance of wearing seatbelts, and how that simple step can save a life. The last time Texas went a day without a fatality crash was in November of 2020; buckling up can help .

Remember, buckle up every rider for every ride.

Did You Know??

Wearing a seat belt reduces the risk of dying in a crash by 45% for people in the front seat of passenger cars. And the Click It or Ticket initiative in Texas is estimated to have saved more than 8,200 lives and prevented 148,000 injuries since its inception in 2002!

There are a few days left in our increased traffic enforcement period that is focused on occupant safety. So remember, it’s the law: buckle up day and night in every seat.

Join us tomorrow evening for an E-bike Safety Course at the Colleyville Rec Center from 6-7pm!

With Summer right around the corner, we want to make sure all bike riders are safe and compliant around town. Join us in one week for another FREE E-bike Safety Course presentation by Officer Beregszaszy! She will cover safety tips, along with local rules and regulations for attendees of all ages.

On Memorial Day, we want to remember and honor those who gave their lives for our country. We are grateful for their sacrifice, so that we may live freely. Their bravery and devotion will never be forgotten.

Events like these give us a chance to meet with our community and share safety information, like our current occupant safety initiative.

We are proud to announce the successful completion, and graduation, of the Colleyville Police Department Citizens Police Academy Class XXIII last week!

The academy provides valuable insight into law enforcement operations, community policing, public safety procedures, and the daily responsibilities carried out by the dedicated officers of the Colleyville Police Department and our partner agencies.

Officer Grisso ran the CPA each week and said, “Participants found it both educational and rewarding, and I greatly appreciate the time, professionalism, and commitment shown by the department instructors throughout the academy. I would also like to thank the students for their dedication to completing the 16-week program.”

We are so thankful for a successful class this year, and we enjoyed sharing a glimpse behind the scenes with everyone. We want to thank the Colleyville Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association for providing refreshments each week and helping put on a great graduation, we couldn't do it without them!
