Today on World Hunger Day, we’re reminded that food insecurity isn’t just a global issue — it impacts families right here in Ohio. And one of the most requested items at food banks is also one of the hardest to provide consistently: high-quality protein.
That’s why Ohio’s pig farmers continue stepping up through the Ohio Pork Council’s Pork Power initiative.
This season alone, Ohio pig farmers helped provide $11,000 in pork donations to food bank partners including the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, Freestore Foodbank in Cincinnati, and Mid-Ohio Food Collective in Columbus — helping deliver more than 30,000 protein-packed meals to Ohio families.
For Ohio pig farmers, this is about more than numbers. It’s neighbors helping neighbors. It’s making sure families have access to safe, wholesome protein that can bring people together around the dinner table.
From Lake Erie to the Ohio River Valley, Ohio pig farmers are proud to help nourish communities across our state — not just on World Hunger Day, but all year long. ❤️🐖

The Ohio Association of Foodbanks is proud to be building a growing connection with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources: Division of Wildlife.
Back in November, we partnered for a pilot program that delivered 3,350lbs of processed deer meat to foodbank partners across the state, and we continue exploring opportunities to expand this effort.
Just this last month, Ohio’s Wildlife District 1 staff hosted a food drive for Mid-Ohio Food Collective , collecting 235lbs of donated goods. Across the state, other Ohio wildlife districts employees are also hosting their own food drives to support their local foodbanks and help feed their communities.
We are incredibly grateful to ODNR for their continued partnership and commitment to nourishing Ohio families, and we look forward to growing this relationship even further.
