🇺🇸 Cooperstown Central School District had the honor of welcoming New York Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado to campus on Thursday for a memorable day with our students and staff!

Student Council President Sophia Johnson and Vice President Claire Baldo kicked off the visit by leading Delgado on a guided tour of the Junior/Senior High School, stopping in several classrooms along the way to greet students and teachers.

Following the tour, Delgado met with students in grades 10-12 in the auditorium for a town hall, sharing his unique career journey – from pursuing rap music as a hip-hop artist under the stage name "AD the Voice" to practicing law, serving in the U.S. House of Representatives and eventually becoming New York's lieutenant governor in 2022. He also discussed his views on public service, political term limits and his plans for life after elected office.

Sophia and Claire then moderated the town hall's Q&A session, asking Delgado questions submitted by their fellow students ahead of his visit.

The visit continued across campus at Cooperstown Elementary School, where Principal Amy Malcuria welcomed Delgado for another building tour. One particularly heartwarming moment came when he stopped by a kindergarten classroom, chatted with students about their Halloween costumes and received some amazing artwork they had created earlier in the day! 🎃🎨

Back at the Junior/Senior High School, Delgado even tried his hand at archery during a high school PE class – and hit the target! Beginner's luck? 🎯🏹

To wrap up his visit, Delgado enjoyed lunch and conversation with Student Council representatives and members of our district administration in the Junior/Senior High School library.

👏 A special thank you to Sophia, Claire and all our Student Council representatives for helping make the day a success, and to Lt. Gov. Delgado for taking the time to visit our schools, engage with our students and share his experiences!
