Our team and Nomadic Geografik had an incredible time at The Villa! Former owner Stephanie was truly a wonderful person, and you could feel the care and heart that went into the location.
As for the current owner, Lance Zaal… let’s just say our team was blocked after they acquired the Villisca Axe Murder House.
My personal takeaway from all of this is that ghost hunting and paranormal tourism shouldn’t just become a race to buy the “scariest” locations while losing the human side of these places in the process. The Villa felt welcoming, personal, and full of stories worth preserving.
It honestly saddens me seeing parts of the paranormal field become more focused on profit than history, preservation, and respect for the people connected to these locations. If you ever own a haunted location and decide to sell it, I hope you carefully consider who you pass it on to.
