Unlocking Opportunity - I had a wonderful opportunity to speak on a panel at Second Canaan MBC. The panel encouraged attendees to view homeownership, financial literacy, investing, and estate planning as tools for creating long-term financial stability and generational wealth, while highlighting programs and resources available to help families achieve those goals.

Great week at Mackinac with my team. Had a powerful conversation with Khary Frazier on Detroit Is Different about the work happening in Detroit and the momentum in District 4. Grateful for the platform and the dialogue.

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, I want to remind our community that caring for ourselves is not a luxury — it’s a necessity. Small daily check‑ins like these can make a real difference. Let’s continue showing up for our minds, our bodies, and each other.

Hello District 4!!

On this Memorial Day, I encourage all our residents to take a moment to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is the reason we enjoy the freedoms we have today. As we pay our respects, I also hope you find time to rest, reconnect with loved ones, and enjoy a peaceful day in our community.

Feeling less stressed doesn’t happen all at once — it’s something we build through small, intentional steps. As we honor Mental Health Awareness Month, we should lean into practices that help us slow down, breathe, and reconnect with ourselves. These five steps are simple, but their impact adds up.

Our May monthly meeting was all about clarity and connection. Our policy team walked residents through how federal, state and local government is structured and what City Council does within — breaking down a system that can feel complicated and making it easier to understand. It was a great reminder that informed communities are empowered communities, and conversations like this help everyone stay engaged in the work happening right here at home.

Volunteering alongside my team at Focus HOPE reminded me why this work matters so deeply. Giving back isn’t something we do only when it’s convenient — it’s a responsibility we carry as public servants and as neighbors. There is real work that must be put forth to strengthen our community, and days like this show what’s possible when we roll up our sleeves together.

Grateful to join the Canfield Consortium and Creating Habitats for Pollinators today as we work together to strengthen our neighborhoods and protect our local ecosystem. Community partnerships like these help Detroit grow healthier, greener, and more connected.

Hello District 4!!

Our 'District 4 Coffee Hour' reminded us just how powerful community engagement can be. The room was full, the questions were meaningful, and the conversations were honest.

District 4, thank you for your commitment to shaping our future.
