"DWSD and the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) are monitoring the weather. The local and regional sewer systems are currently functioning as designed. During heavy rain, we urge all customers to reduce water usage during the rain event to provide more capacity in the sewer system, and take safety precautions by not driving or walking into standing water.

DWSD crews are ready to respond to potential flooding."

Unlocking Opportunity - I had a wonderful opportunity to speak on a panel at Second Canaan MBC. The panel encouraged attendees to view homeownership, financial literacy, investing, and estate planning as tools for creating long-term financial stability and generational wealth, while highlighting programs and resources available to help families achieve those goals.

Great week at Mackinac with my team. Had a powerful conversation with Khary Frazier on Detroit Is Different about the work happening in Detroit and the momentum in District 4. Grateful for the platform and the dialogue.

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, I want to remind our community that caring for ourselves is not a luxury — it’s a necessity. Small daily check‑ins like these can make a real difference. Let’s continue showing up for our minds, our bodies, and each other.

On this Memorial Day, I encourage all our residents to take a moment to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is the reason we enjoy the freedoms we have today. As we pay our respects, I also hope you find time to rest, reconnect with loved ones, and enjoy a peaceful day in our community.

Feeling less stressed doesn’t happen all at once — it’s something we build through small, intentional steps. As we honor Mental Health Awareness Month, we should lean into practices that help us slow down, breathe, and reconnect with ourselves. These five steps are simple, but their impact adds up.
