Grooming is the deliberate act of building trust with a child, teen, or at-risk adult (such as an adult with a cognitive impairment) for the purpose of exploiting them sexually. A key indicator of exploitation is power being misused. To identify grooming, look for patterns of behavior rather than one-off incidents. To learn more about grooming, signs to watch for, and what to do if you suspect someone is at risk visit https://rainn.org/get-the-facts-about-sexual-violence/get-the-facts-about-grooming/

May is National Trauma Awareness Month, a reminder that the experiences children face today can shape their health and well-being for years to come.
Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), including violence, neglect, and household stress, can have lasting impacts on both mental and physical health.
By supporting safe, stable, and nurturing environments for children and families, we can help reduce the long-term effects of ACEs and create healthier futures for the next generation! π

This Mental Health Awareness Month, letβs make sure youth are able to get the help they need when they need it most! π
Half of all youth mental health challenges begin by age 14, but many go without support for far too long. For boys and young men of color, getting connected to care can be even more difficult.
Through our Team: Changing Minds program, we equip caring adults with practical skills to recognize youth mental health challenges and help connect young people to support sooner, not later.
