Do you remember what school was like in Dillsburg, Franklintown, or Wellsville? Or have you ever wondered what classrooms looked like generations ago?

Join us this Sunday, October 25, from 1–4 PM at Maple Shade Barn for a special afternoon exploring our local school history with Dr. Brian M. Small, former Superintendent of the Northern York County School District!

Dr. Small will share stories and history from his book, Small Town Schools in the Good Old Days, which explores the early schools of our area, including the one-room schoolhouses that once served local communities.

Following his presentation, there will be time for discussion, questions, and a book signing. The event is free and open to the public at Maple Shade Barn, 35 Greenbriar Lane in Dillsburg!

Whether you attended one of these schools, have family ties to the area, or simply enjoy discovering local history, we'd love to see you there!

Head over to our website for the full details!

What if your next family heirloom could also help preserve local history?

Our Burgoyne Surrounded Quilt Auction is underway, with proceeds supporting NYCHAPS’ continued work in preservation, education, and living history here in Northern York County.

The queen-sized quilt features a traditional American pattern with ties to the Revolutionary War, making it a pretty fitting way to support the stories we work to preserve.

Blind bids are open through November 8, beginning at $1,200. Take a closer look and submit your bid:
