Outdoor Warning Siren Test Canceled Today

After last night's severe weather and tornado warnings, the standard noon outdoor warning siren test will not be conducted today.

Emergency Management made this decision to help avoid confusion between a routine test and a potential emergency warning. Based on Noon Tornado Test, the concern was that residents could mistake a test for an actual warning given the current weather situation.

If outdoor warning sirens sound today, please treat them as an actual emergency notification and take appropriate action.

Thank you for your understanding and continued attention to weather conditions.

____________

Floodwater can be deceptive.

When most people think about flooded roads, they think about water depth. But depth is only part of the story.

Floodwater can hide damaged pavement, washouts, debris, strong currents, and other hazards that aren't visible from behind the wheel. What looks like a minor inconvenience can quickly become a dangerous situation.

Over the next few graphics, we're sharing some of the hidden risks floodwater can conceal. The goal isn't to create fear. It's to encourage a moment of pause and a second look before driving through standing water.

Sometimes the safest decision is simply turning around and finding another route.

Turn Around. Don't Drown.

___________

No te arriesgues.
