⚠️ SCAM ALERT ⚠️

Today, 8/19/2026, the MCSO was made aware of an unknown suspect making phone calls & sending other fraudulent correspondence to various citizens & claiming to be an employee of a bail bonds company in an attempt to solicit money from citizens.

This time, the suspect(s) impersonating bail bonds employees are telling their victims they need to pay a bond for someone they know to get out of jail through various financial transfer apps such as Cashapp, Venmo, etc.

The suspects are able to tell the victims accurate information about their family members/friends currently in jail by pulling publicly available jail records.

If you or someone you know receives a phone call or any other correspondence from anyone claiming to work as a bail bond agent or other employee of such an organization who is attempting to solicit money through unusual online applications, we advise you to end the conversation & report any suspicious activity to the MCSO immediately.

Thank you.

⚠️ SCAM ALERT ⚠️

Today, 8/12/2026, the MCSO was made aware of an unknown suspect making phone calls & sending other fraudulent correspondence to various citizens & claiming to be a Deputy of our Office in an attempt to solicit money from citizens.

Our Office WILL NOT contact citizens via phone & demand money to be paid for any reason.

This time, the suspect(s) impersonating law enforcement are telling their victims to pull cash out of an ATM before placing it in a bitcoin kiosk & scanning a QR code to send the suspect money in crypto currency.

The Moore County Sheriff's Office will never demand anyone to exchange cash for any crypto currency before sending it to us in lieu of being arrested for any warrants, or for any other reason.

If you or someone you know receives a phone call or any other correspondence from anyone claiming to work at the Moore County Sheriff's Office & attempting to solicit money, we advise you end the conversation & report this activity to our Office immediately.

Thank you.
