72 years of standing tall for our community.

A longtime fixture of our community, our Mulberry Water Tank was built in 1954 and held 500,000 gallons of water. Whether you were driving down the road or watching a baseball game at Elizabethtown High School, the Mulberry Water Tank stood tall — a familiar sight for generations of our community.

We are grateful for the 72 years the Mulberry Tank served our community. While we would have loved to keep this familiar landmark for sentimental reasons, our growing community requires larger infrastructure.

With the Mulberry Tank gone and our Helmwood Tank coming down today, we are making way for the infrastructure needed to serve future generations of our growing community.

10/07/2026

Beginning Wednesday, Oct. 7th, Helmwood Drive will be closed to thru traffic between the intersections of Cherrywood Drive and Westwood Drive and reopened on Friday, Oct. 9th.

Our water sources are beautiful and we want to keep them that way.

An important part of providing high-quality drinking water to our community is protecting our source water before it reaches the treatment plant.

Protecting water sources such as the Nolin River helps preserve the quality of the water we rely on today and helps ensure that clean, high-quality drinking water remains available for generations to come.

Today, we got to go to not 1, but 2 career days!

We were proud to visit Lincoln Trail Elementary School and Radcliff Elementary School to share with students what goes on behind the scenes to make sure our community gets safe, reliable water. While it may be a few years before these kids begin their own careers, we hope we gave them something to think about as they start discovering what they may want to do in the future.

Allen Pierce and Stephen Schueller enjoyed talking with the kids answering all their questions about water. We especially loved that Allen was able to share what he does every day with his children's classmates.

Jordan Burden joined Hardin County Water District No. 2 in April 2025, beginning his career in Distribution before transitioning to the IT department in July 2025. Since then, he has become a valuable member of the HCWD2 team. In his day-to-day role, Jordan is responsible for maintaining the District’s technology infrastructure at the main office and both water treatment plants. He provides technical support for IT equipment throughout the organization, helping ensure everything remains operational, secure, and reliable.

One of Jordan’s proudest accomplishments has been creating and implementing the District’s IT Asset Inventory System. He developed an asset identification and inventory system to improve how technology and work orders are managed across the organization. The system provides a centralized way to track IT equipment, maintain detailed work histories, and improve the management and documentation of work orders. It has also created a more organized and efficient way to manage technology assets across all HCWD2 locations.

What Jordan finds most fulfilling about his work is helping others and solving problems. He enjoys knowing that his work makes a difference in the District’s everyday operations and helps employees do their jobs effectively. What inspires Jordan to do his best work is knowing that what he does directly impacts the people around him. By keeping HCWD2's technology running smoothly, he helps employees perform their jobs efficiently and ultimately, helps the organization better serve the people of Hardin County.

Jordan’s favorite part of the job is that everyday is different. The variety of challenges he encounters and the opportunity to assist different areas of the organization keep his work interesting, rewarding, and challenging. One of Jordan’s favorite HCWD2 memories was helping run the Water District’s station at the St. James School field day.

We are proud to recognize Jordan for his dedication, technical expertise, and commitment to helping others. His hard work plays an important role in keeping HCWD2 running smoothly, and we appreciate all he does for our team and the community we serve.

Every drop is made possible by people.

Each and every one of our employees plays an important role in providing water to our community. We are proud of every employee’s dedication to keeping the water flowing, though we couldn’t comfortably fit them all in one picture.

This Labor Day, we want to thank all our employees for their hard work and commitment to our community every day. Whether it's a regular workday or a night, weekend, or holiday, we appreciate all that you do!
