We were honored to host an incredible panel of community speakers for our 3rd Annual Summering Safely event yesterday at our St. Ann’s Campus! It was a meaningful day focused on helping youth prepare for a safe, positive and successful summer. Over 60 students heard powerful messages from community leaders and professionals who shared their experiences, guidance and encouragement as students prepare for summer break.

Thank you to our distinguished and inspiring speakers:
• Daria S. Devlin, City of Erie Mayor
• Christine Rush, District Justice
• Elizabeth Hirz, Erie County District Attorney
• Rev. Denise Whitaker, Shiloh Baptist Church
• Dr. Adrienne Dixon, President & CEO of Sarah Reed Children’s Center
• Ron Rodney, Supervisor of the St. Ann’s Campus
• Curtis Lofton, St. Ann’s Campus staff member and organizer of the Summering Safely program

Now in its third year, the Summering Safely program was created by Curtis Lofton to help students navigate the challenges and distractions that can come during the summer months while encouraging thoughtful decision-making and community responsibility. This year’s theme highlighted the importance of the caretakers, mentors and support systems who work alongside our students every day and how the choices we make can impact not only ourselves, but also our families and community.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this important event possible!
