ATTEMPTED MURDER ARREST MADE FOLLOWING SPEARSVILLE SHOOTING

The Union Parish Sheriff's Office has arrested a woman following a shooting in Spearsville on Sunday evening.

On October 25, 2026, at approximately 730 PM, UPSO deputies, along with the Spearsville Police Department, responded to a residence within the city limits of Spearsville regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to his shoulder. The suspect was identified as Delynn Eubanks, 58, of Monroe.

During the investigation, deputies learned an altercation had occurred between the victim and Eubanks. According to the victim, Eubanks went outside to retrieve a fi***rm from her vehicle before returning to the residence and shooting him. The victim also reported that Eubanks attempted to fire a second shot, but the fi***rm did not discharge.

The victim was transported to a medical facility for treatment. As of Monday morning, he is considered to be in stable condition.

Eubanks was arrested and booked into the Union Parish Detention Center for Attempted Second Degree Murder. Bond has been set by a Third District Judge at $500,000.

We had a great time at today's Community Fall Trunk or Treat on the Farmerville Town Square!

The Sheriff Gates Lock-Up was a hit, and we enjoyed visiting with all the kids and families who stopped by for some treats and fun!

Pictured are Sheriff Gates, Captain Peyton McKinnie, Camille "Sticky Fingers" Gates, and Deputy Frances Mendez. We were especially glad to find some kiddos dressed as law enforcement officers!

Congratulations to Sheriff Dusty Gates, who was nominated for, and won, this year's Sheriff of the Year Award. Sheriff Gates was presented the award at tonight's KNOE First Responder of the Year Banquet in West Monroe.

Four other UPSO deputies were nominated for awards. Patrol Deputies Dock Robertson and Cortincia Shelbon (not pictured) were nominated for Deputy of the Year, Deputy Maria Cruz was nominated for Dispatcher of the Year, and Deputy Burt Green was nominated for Lifetime Achievement Award.
