🐾 A microchip can help bring your pet home.

Collars and ID tags can come off, but a registered microchip gives shelters and veterinarians a way to identify your pet and contact you if they’re found.

If your pet has a microchip, make sure your phone number and address are up to date with the microchip company. A microchip only works if your contact information is current. And remember: a microchip is not GPS, so your pet should still wear a collar with an ID tag.

If you find a lost pet, contact Animal Control by calling 911 or The Fort Pierce animal adoption center at 772-242-1662.

A few minutes updating your information could make all the difference. ❤️

🐾 National Pet ID Week is Here! (April 17–23) 🐾

Fort Pierce Animal Control is highlighting the importance of making sure pets have proper identification. A simple ID tag or microchip can make all the difference in helping a lost pet find its way back home safely.

Every year, countless pets are separated from their families—but with up-to-date identification, reunions happen faster and more often. Taking a few minutes to check collars, tags, and microchip information can provide peace of mind and protect pets in unexpected situations.

If a pet is not yet microchipped, now is the perfect time to consider it. This quick and safe process can be a lifelong safeguard.

Because every pet deserves a safe way home. 🐶🐱
