🍣 Exploring Downtown Framingham, One Business at a Time!

Mayor Charlie Sisitsky continues to prioritize building strong relationships with our downtown businesses, working alongside Tatiana Vasconsellos of Downtown Framingham, Inc. (DFI) to celebrate the people, cultures, and stories that make our community special.

Recently, the Mayor, First Lady Robin Kaye, Tatiana, and I stopped by Sam’s Sushi at 181 Concord Street, where manager Tiago welcomed us for a wonderful lunch!

🇯🇵🇧🇷 Tiago shared how Japanese cuisine has become incredibly popular in Brazil and how Sam’s Sushi brings the best of both culinary traditions together. From bold, creative flavors to beautifully presented dishes, every plate was a work of art!

We even discovered something new: freshly pressed soursop juice! 🍹 A tropical treat and a delicious reminder that you don’t have to travel far to experience something different.

But these visits are about more than great food. They’re about meeting the people behind our local businesses, hearing their stories, celebrating our diversity, and strengthening the connections that make Framingham thrive.

👏 A big thank you to Tiago and the entire Sam’s Sushi team for their warm hospitality, and to Tatiana and Downtown Framingham, Inc. for their continued dedication to our downtown community.

❤️ Every business has a story. Every story brings us closer. And every connection makes Framingham stronger!

In the spring, the City of Framingham honored our volunteers with our first Annual Volunteer Banquet. We were lucky to have so many generously donated raffle items, including a tour of the Framingham Fire Headquarters. The raffle winner, Tania Blanco, a member of the Women, Children and Families Commission and Framingham business owner, and her husband, a Boston firefighter, sent along some great pictures! Thank you to the Framingham Fire Department for your continued partnership and support.

🛝🎓 Designing spaces where every child can play

Our Early Childhood Education and Teaching seniors are taking a closer look at what makes a playground accessible, welcoming and engaging for children with a variety of needs. Through their exploration, students are learning how thoughtful design can support every child’s ability to participate and connect.

Students explored features including communication boards, sensory and music integration, wheelchair accessibility, inclusive swing options and equipment that supports gross motor development. These hands-on experiences help our future educators think beyond the classroom and consider how the environment itself can support learning, development and inclusion. 💙🧡

Our Broncos are building the knowledge and perspective they’ll carry into their future classrooms and careers. 👏

I want to take a moment to recognize and express my heartfelt gratitude to the incredible employees of the City of Framingham!

Not only do these dedicated individuals work tirelessly in their full-time roles serving our community, but they also went above and beyond to help create an unforgettable Spooktacular celebration for the residents of Framingham! 🎃👻

Events like Spooktacular don't just happen. They are made possible by the people behind the scenes who give so much of themselves, often without recognition, simply because they care about the community they serve.

To every City employee who helped make Spooktacular such an incredible success — THANK YOU!
