Williamson County Archives and Museum is a department of Williamson County, TN Government. www.wcarchives.org Museum admission is always free for all visitors.

Williamson County Archives’ mission is to collect, preserve, and provide access to county records with enduring administrative and historical value. Our permanent records date back to the founding of Williamson County, Tennessee, in 1799, and include multiple record groups. We also collect other documents of local historical value and make them available to the public. In addition to providing access to county records, the Archives Department maintains a county museum filled with objects and artifacts highlighting Williamson County's rich history. Please come explore our displays and exhibitions to learn about Williamson County's history and people. In 2013, the archives building was dedicated the Louise G. Lynch Archives and Museum, in honor of the first County Archivist.

📜 October is American Archives Month! 📜

Every deed, letter, photograph, and court record tells a piece of Williamson County’s story, and here at Williamson County Archives and Museum, we’re honored to collect and protect these stories for our community.

Archives aren’t just dusty boxes on a shelf. They’re where families trace their roots, students uncover local history, researchers find answers, and our whole community stays connected to the people, places, and moments that shaped it. From marriage records to maps, from family Bibles to local history books, our collections carry the voices of those who came before us.

This month, we invite you to celebrate with us! 🗂️
✨ Explore our collections in-person or online
✨ Start (or continue!) your family history research
✨ Visit our newest exhibit in the County Museum

Have old documents or photos tucked away in an attic or closet? They might hold an important piece of our county’s history. Reach out to learn how we can help preserve them.

Thank you for helping us keep Williamson County’s past alive.
