Pumpkins, Pumpkins Everywhere!

Our 4th graders had another wonderful Agriculture in the Classroom lesson with Ms. Debbie!

This month, the students dove into all things pumpkins! They learned about the top four pumpkin producing states in the United States as well as the top producing pumpkin counties right here in Illinois!

It was a fun way to learn more about agriculture and discovered just how much goes into growing one of our favorite fall traditions!

We always look forward to Ms. Debbie's monthly visit and the Hands-On learning opportunities she brings to our students! A big THANK YOU to Miss Debbie for sharing her knowledge and making agriculture for fun and engaging for our 4th graders!

👻🎃 WE NEED YOUR EMPTY JUGS! 🎃👻

Got empty gallon-sized jugs taking up space? Don’t toss them just yet! 👀 We have a SPOOKTACULAR idea! 🕸️🧡

We’re looking for EMPTY, RINSED-OUT GALLON-SIZED JUGS to help bring our upcoming Fall Festival Haunted Hallway to life! 👻💀

🧴 Milk jugs, water jugs, or other gallon-sized plastic jugs are just what we’re looking for!

Instead of heading to the recycling bin, send those jugs our way and help us create a little Halloween magic (and maybe a few spooky surprises)! 🧙‍♀️🕷️

❤️ Every jug helps make our Haunted Hallway a little more BOO-tiful! 👻

Please reach out if you have some to donate, and feel free to share this post to spread the word!

Thanks for helping us make this Fall Festival frightfully fun! 🎃🧡👻

🍎🌱 Agriculture in the Classroom! 🌱🍎

September brought a delicious and educational visit to our fourth-grade classrooms! Students welcomed Ms. Debbie to learn all about apples—from how they grow to their importance in agriculture. 🍏

🍎 Did you know? Illinois is home to more than 500 apple orchards, with apples grown throughout the state! Our students got to explore a little piece of Illinois agriculture right in their classroom. 🌳🍎

Students also put on their scientist hats and participated in a hands-on apple science experiment using vinegar, baking soda, and dish soap. 🧪🔬 Through this fun chemical reaction, students made observations, asked questions, and saw science in action!

A big thank-you to Ms. Debbie for bringing Agriculture in the Classroom to our students and making learning so much fun! 🍎❤️

🔥 October is Fire Safety Month! 🔥

Today, our students had a special visit from the local fire department to learn important fire safety tips and the importance of having a fire safety plan with your family.

Students also had the opportunity to practice how to safely climb out of a window using the fire department’s Smoke House. This hands-on experience helped students understand what to do in an emergency and why having a plan—and practicing it—is so important! 🧯🚒

A big thank-you to our firefighters for taking the time to educate and prepare our students! ❤️

Remember: Have a plan. Practice your plan. Stay safe! 🚒🏠
