Throughout fall break, our kamalei across all age groups came together at Liliʻuokalani Trust’s Kīpuka Hilo Engagement Center and deepened their understanding of the importance of ʻAha Makahiki, strengthen their cultural connections, and ground themselves in the values and traditions of our kūpuna.

From learning alongside one another to building pilina and creating lasting memories, this week was a beautiful reminder of the importance of coming together.
Mahalo to all of our kamalei, ʻohana, and everyone who made this week so special! 💛

We’re so incredibly proud of our Kamalei from , who brought their creativity and unique vision to life at the 2026 MAMo Wearable Art Show with . ✨

These looks were originally brought to life through our Noʻenoʻe Lole program this past summer, where our Kamalei explored creativity, design, and wearable art from concept to creation.

Seeing them take their creations to the MAMo runway was such a special moment. Their designs showcased imagination, individuality, and the beauty of our Kamalei creating boldly and authentically. We couldn’t be prouder!

Noʻenoʻe Lole will be offered again in summer 2027 for interested Kamalei (high school ages). Keep an eye out for this and other Visual Art offerings at liliuokalanicenter.org.

This year, Liliʻuokalani Trust brought Uluhaimalama—Queen Liliʻuokalani’s beloved garden to the parade, honoring her legacy through mele, hula, and community.

Mahalo to everyone who helped bring the float to life, especially Kamalei, their ʻOhana and our incredible musicians Uncle Moon Kauakahi, Raiatea Helm, and Bella Finau-Faumuina.

And a special aloha to our very own, Faith Kalamau, this year’s Pāʻū Queen.
