Indy cut the ribbon to its 1.2 million square foot airport complex off I-70 on November 11, 2008 becoming one of the first new airports to open in the U.S. Each year, more than 8 million passengers pass through IND. A destination and launching pad for both commerce and community, IND is strategically located 16 minutes from downtown Indianapolis and just minutes from major U.S. interstates including I-65, I-865, I-69, I-70, and I-74, all of which connect to the city's I-465 beltway. It is also within minutes of U.S. 40, U.S. 31, and U.S. 52. The eighth largest cargo center in the U.S., IND is home of the second-largest FedEx Express operation in the world. Approximately 2.2 billion pounds of cargo were managed at IND in 2013. IND is an important catalyst for economic development in Central Indiana and the Midwestern region, generating an annual economic impact of more than $4.5 billion for the area.

A first look at what's to come! Today, IND and Wischermann Partners unveiled a model guest room for the future Westin Indianapolis International Airport Hotel.

The preview showcased the elevated guest experience planned for the 253-room hotel, featuring wellness-focused amenities, art by local Indiana artists, meeting spaces and convenient access to the airport. The hotel is shaping up to deliver a world-class experience right on the airport campus. Opening in fall of 2027.

A monumental honor! This week, we were recognized as a finalist for Best Public Art at the Indy Chamber Monumental Awards for the way we've turned construction walls into a larger-than-life gallery of local art in our Ground Transportation Center. Shout out to Cathy Wilburn, Anne Cleary, David Grabstald and Omar Rashan whose art is currently on display!

Today for Restart Your Heart Day, we partnered with our friends at CLEAR and the American Heart Association to demonstrate Hands-Only CPR to Fall Break travelers of all ages and empower them in emergency situations.

Did you know IND has the largest Airport Cardiac Emergency Response Plan in the nation? We're equipping the entire 11,000+ workforce on our campus with CPR and Stop the Bleed training so they can step in and step up when needed at work, at home, and out in the community.
