🍂 Fall is the perfect season to explore our senses! This week, Ms. Meredith’s kindergarteners embraced the beauty of autumn as they explored the fallen leaves through their sense of touch. Along the way, they discovered that touch extends far beyond our hands—our skin helps us experience and learn about the world around us. What a wonderful way to connect sensory exploration with the changing season! 🍁

The joy in discovering a new book to read is always amazing! 2nd graders in Mrs. Cruz's class recently got to experience this as they unpacked and explored all their new books from a recent DonorsChoose project! The student excitement for these new materials is one of the many reasons we are always so grateful for our schools supporters and donors!

Music with Ms. Bax doesn't just have music- there is lots of movement and collaboration each class period too! Students from Ms. Hofmann's 3rd grade got to do a great folk dance in class recently, as well as sing and play xylophones!

Students learn meaningful things from others- their peers, their teachers and experts! Students in 4th grade had a very special visiting expert today. Author Kelly Yang came to share about her new graphic novel version of her book Front Desk, and speak to kids about what led to her being a writer and some tips and tricks for writing! Our students were so excited to hear her story, ask questions about her life and her writing, and receive their very own copy of Front Desk! "The house was nothingful. We were just moving people in the house. We needed furniture to play so we’re making it!” One of the important ideas that a Reggio inspired school follows is "following the child." Mrs. Wakeland saw her students loving their classroom dollhouse during explore and followed their interests to provide a wide variety of materials for them to create furniture for the house!

A student favorite, the Book Fairy Book Fair will be even bigger this year! Our students will be so excited! Thank you Indy Book Project!

We’re thrilled to share that 575 books are headed to IPS William Bell School 60! 🎉

Becca, who picked them up, shared that the school hosts an annual “Books and Boogie” celebration of reading. Last year, students were able include a "Free Book Fairy Book Fair", where they could choose books to take home and keep—and it was a HUGE hit! ❤️📖

“Students were SO excited to go book shopping and pick books to take home with them.”
This year, they’re hoping to make the event even bigger, with even more books for students to choose from! We’re so excited to help make that happen.

Ms. Commerford's 1st grade class worked to build a model of the digestive system. Students then acted out digestion by making food out of Play-Doh and describing how food moves through the digestive system!
