GOCAA Head Start Room 2 explored pumpkins through the week! We looked at pumpkins of different shapes and sizes and compared what we found inside. We even discovered one that was rotten on the inside (let’s just say fresh pumpkins smell MUCH better!)

After reading Pumpkin Jack, we’re keeping a little piece of Halloween with us! We’ll continue observing our jack-o’-lantern as it decomposes and changes through the year!

At GOCAA Headstart in Ironwood Room 1 This week, we began our tree study! The children explored the changes trees go through during fall. We enjoyed doing tree yoga, creating beautiful leaf sun catchers and playing in the leaves outdoors. We also collected leaves to use for a special art project. They are displayed above our cubbies. Through these fun, hands on activities, the children explored the beauty of fall while developing their creativity, curiosity, and appreciation of nature.

Today, our Ironwood Head Start playground became our very own pumpkin patch, thanks to the generous donation of beautiful pumpkins from North Eden Farm! Children from both classrooms explored the variety of pumpkins and chose one of their own to take home.

Rooms 1 & 2 used the opportunity to notice similarities and differences, compare colors and sizes, and talk about how we can all like different things, and that's okay!

GOCAA Headstart Room 1 with Ms Cheyenne and Ms Brittany and Ms Chammie. The children had so much fun exploring the sensory experience of finger painting! They enjoyed dipping their fingers into the colorful paint, feeling the texture and creating their own masterpieces. The hands-on activity encouraged creativity, self-expression, and sensory exploration while helping develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. There were lots of smiles.

Students at GOCAA Headstart in Bessemer today practiced their tornado drills. The children did an awesome job!!
