The Bridger-Teton National Forest Road Crew plans to begin grading work on Swift Creek Road starting this week, weather permitting. The project is expected to take approximately two days to complete. Crews may also trim back willow vegetation in areas where it is limiting motorists’ sight distance. Because Swift Creek Road is narrow and winding, the road will need to be closed to public use while work is underway to ensure safety for both workers and travelers. The crew is prepared to begin work as early as tomorrow (Oct. 20); however, start dates may shift into next week if weather conditions deteriorate.

In celebration of Fire Safety Week, the Sublette County Library in Pinedale invited the Forest Service to participate in their after school programming on Thursday. Aubree Haffey, Nan Stinson, and Meredith Malek from the Pinedale Ranger District Office of the Bridger-Teton National Forest showed the 30+ children (kindergarten through fifth grade) the tools and gear used by wildland firefighters. They even learned "forest," "fire," and "firefighter" in sign language, and they got to run an obstacle course while properly carrying their own plastic axe!
