🌲 In the Bridger-Teton National Forest, “pine” could mean countless tree species. Lodgepole, whitebark, and limber pine help shape our local forests just to name a few, and each has their own health challenges!

Mountain pine beetle can attack lodgepole, whitebark, and limber pine, while spruce beetle is one of the most damaging insects in Wyoming’s forests, and BOTH can spread by hitching a ride in firewood.

Our forests already face plenty of pressure without our help spreading pests. When you head into your favorite wild places, leave firewood from home at home and source it near where you’ll burn it. 😎

Our Tick Data Dashboard is live! 🕷️

This dashboard is an invaluable tool that will inform public health across the state by providing regional data and insights into tick distribution trends, helping communities stay ahead of the risks associated with vector-borne diseases. Data that can be viewed includes the total number of ticks collected statewide, species and tick density by location, the presence of pathogens and prevalence by county- including Colorado tick fever, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, and tularemia- and more!

We are deeply grateful to the organizations and individuals who have contributed specimens, data, time, expertise, and funding. This dashboard and the discoveries it represents would not be possible without their support.

Got bugs? 🤢🕷️

🔥🪵🌲 Moving firewood more than 25 miles can inadvertently spread tiny forest pests that hitch a ride on hardwood. Once introduced to a new area, these pests can become established and decimate thousands of acres of standing trees in forests.

🔎 See one of these bad guys out in the field? Squash them right away and let our team know!
